Louisiana Supreme Chicken Wing Sauce: You Can Do Better than This

Our family makes a party atmosphere out of every Sunday. Whether we are watching football, car races or baseball, we often create party platters and food. Wings seem to be a favorite dish for our Sunday events. Recently, we purchased a new wing sauce that we had never tried before. We purchased a product called Louisiana Supreme Chicken Wing Sauce.

The label states that you can either use the Louisiana Supreme Chicken Wing Sauce as a baste , marinade or as a barbecue sauce. The sauce comes in original and spicy. We usually cook our wings almost all of the way before placing our sauce or barbecue on it. So we cooked the wings, then basted the wings with the sauce. After cooking for about ten minutes and checking, none of the sauce was visible. We basted the wings again, and the sauce was barely visible. We basically had to pour the sauce on the wings, because we were unable to baste with it. The Louisiana Supreme Chicken Wing Sauce was very runny. It also was an odd color which bothered me a bit. I am use to my marinades and barbecues having a dark red or light brown hue to them. The sauce we used was almost orange. While the bottle was large enough, 17 ounces , I found that we had to use a lot. After the wings were cooked, the sauce was barely visible.

So how did the Louisiana Supreme Chicken Wing Sauce taste? I found it to be very spicy. The label said it was original. I would hate to see the spicy version, as it would be far too hot. Then again, I don’t like spicy foods. The sauce has cayenne peppers and red pepper for the spicy flavoring. It also contains garlic in order to add a spicy taste. I have never seen a sauce or barbecue sauce with natural butter flavoring, but this sauce contained natural butter flavoring. Other ingredients are soybean oil, xanthan gum, distilled vinegar, and salt.

My son discovere that the sauce was better to dip in than to baste in. He also commented that there was not much texture to the sauce. He did not find it spicy either. My son suggested that maybe we should have followed the directions. The directions state to deep fry the chicken wings for about 12 to 15 minutes, then place the fried wings in a pan, place the sauce on them, and put them in the oven for another 8 to 10 minutes. However it doesn’t give you the temperature. I baked mine at 350. If we had fried the wings first, the sauce would have held on to them better, as the juices would have been fried out.

The directions state that the Louisiana Supreme Chicken Wing Sauce is also good on other meats, such as fish, whole chicken, hamburger, and steaks. We tried using a bit on our hamburgers patties that we cook on our Foreman Grill, and I believe I like the sauce better on the hamburgers. I put a bit on the hamburgers as they were cooking.

To each his own, but I wasn’t very fond of the Louisiana Supreme Chicken Wing Sauce. You can give it a try if you wish, but I would suggest spending your money on a heartier and thicker sauce next time you need to baste, marinate, or barbecue wings.
