Local 4th of July Celebrations in Shelby County, Tennessee

Shelby County has several different communities inside the county lines. Each community has its own individual way of celebrating the 4th of July.

Arlington
Arlington, TN celebrates the 4th with a park picnic. The fun begins at 9 a.m on the 4th of July. Everyone should bring their own picnic baskets and be ready for a day filled with fun. Arlington takes a small town feel to the 4th of July fun having several different contests all through out the day. Contests include the most patriotic family,and a charity pie baking contest. They even have the children participate in a parade of bikes and wagons. Awards are given to the parade participants with the best decorated rides.

Bartlett
The city of Bartlett, TN has their festivities scheduled for July 3rd from 6:30 until 9:30 p.m. They will have concessions, and live musical entertainment from the Bartlett Community Concert Band and John Angotti with his band. They will plan to close the evening with a spectacular fireworks display.

Collierville
The small town of Collierville, TN has their Independence Day celebration scheduled for July 3rd. The festivities will take place at H. W. Cox Park. The party starts at 6:00 p.m. with an hour of music from The Aims Gang. At 7:15 p.m. Almost Famous takes the stage for another hour of musical entertainment. Dani McCullough’s musical talents will wow the crowd for another hour starting at 8:30 p.m. The evening ends with a bang when the fireworks are set off at 9:30 p.m.

Germantown
Germantown, TN has a day filled with fun events. The Germantown Lions Club starts it all off at 9:00 a.m. on July 4th with a fishing rodeo for children ages 4-12 at the Municipal Park Lake. The cost of the fishing rodeo is $2.00, and you will need to bring your own fishing tackle. All of the proceeds from the fishing rodeo will go to benefit the charitable work of the Germantown Lions Club. The fun continues that evening at 5:00 p.m. also at Municipal Park. There will be tons of activities including rides, moon bounces, games, crafts, and a petting zoo. The day long festivities come to an end with a fireworks display that begins at 9:10 p.m.

Memphis
The City of Memphis has an exciting evening planned on the banks of the Mississippi River. This event packs a big punch with bands such as The Gin Blossoms and Ingram Hill. This is more than likely the largest fireworks display in the area, and you really can not beat the view either! Watching the fireworks reflect off of the mighty Mississippi River is a sight that you won’t soon forget. There will also be food vendors and other family friendly activities. This event will be held at Tom lee park right next to the river, and it starts at 2:00 p.m.

All of these events around Shelby County are free. There may be a cost for food or other activities once you arrive at the event. However, you will be sure to have a blast no matter which 4th of July celebration you attend!
