Little Known Facts About Harry Potter Rupert Grint

Rupert Grint is one of the three main stars of the Harry Potter films. He plays the role of Harry Potter’s best friend Ron Weasley. Rupert Grint was born Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint on August 24, 1998 in Hertfordshire, England. He is the oldest of five children and has one brother and three sisters.

Rupert’s first acting experiences came from school plays and local theatre groups. Rupert Grint was already a huge Harry Potter fan when he heard about the chance to try out for the role of Ron Weasley. Rupert Grint came up with a funny a creative video of himself parodying a teacher he disliked and using hip hop lyrics he wrote and then sent it in to the casting call. His video stood out from the crowd and Rupert was asked to audition for the role of Ron in the first Harry Potter film. His success in the role won the hearts of fans and producers securing Rupert Grint’s role playing Ron Weasley for the future Harry Potter films.

The success of the first Harry Potter film also brought another film opportunity. This was the comedy film Thunderpants where he played the role of Alan A. Allen. Rupert Grint also stared in the 2006 film Driving Lessons with Julie Walters who plays his mother in the Harry Potter films.

Besides performing on screen Rupert Grint has done some voice over work. These roles include a BBC documentary where he was the voice of Peter Pan and a BBC Radio 4 series called Baggy Trousers where he voiced the role of Nigel Molesworth.

Filming the second Harry Potter movie, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets” presented a particular challenge to Rupert. In this film Rupert has to face a giant spider something he found difficult because of his extreme real life spider phobia.

Prior to filming the third Harry Potter movie Prisoner of Azkaban director Alfonso Curon asked each of the starring children to write an essay describing their character. However Rupert forgot to do this assignment and is quoted as saying “that’s what Ron would have done.”

Rupert Grint has greatly enjoyed making the Harry Potter films and wants to be part of all of them if possible. Rupert Grint has become the Ron of the films and fan would find it very hard to accept another actor playing the part.

Outside of acting Rupert has a number of interests. He enjoys listening to music particularly Rock music. He loves to eat burgers and candy. Rupert Grint is a big fan of actor Jim Carey with his favourite films being Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Rupert is a supporter of North London Premiership football (soccer) team, Tottenham HotSpur. He also enjoys video games and reading.

Of the Harry Potter series Rupert Grint has a few favourites. His favourite books from the series are Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire. His favourite scenes from the films are the chess scene, the slug scene and when the flying car crashes into the Whomping Willow. Ron is his favourite character from the series.

Other little known facts about Rupert Grint are as follows. After filming the first Harry Potter movie Rupert used some of his film earnings to buy himself a quad bike. In 2006 Rupert Grint finally passed his driving test after two failed attempts.
