Little Debbie Swiss Rolls Review

Cheap Snacks, Little Debbie, Snack Cake, Swiss

Health
Little Debbie Swiss rolls are not one of the healthiest snacks available at the grocery store. Although they are quite small in size, these Swiss rolls are loaded with over 400 calories. They also have a significant amount of fat (including saturated fats) and sugar. Little Debbie Swiss rolls are low in cholesterol and sodium. This snack has some calcium and iron, but not enough nutritional value to warrant eating them if you are concerned about your diet or weight.

Quality
When I first tried Little Debbie Swiss rolls, I considered them to be rather small compared to other snacks. However, this position changed after realizing that these products are adequately sized for both adults and children. While there are two Little Debbie Swiss rolls in each package, you could eat one and still be satisfied. This makes it easier to share the snack with another person. It may be best to have children share these particular food products considering the high amount of sugar in Little Debbie Swiss rolls.

There are three layers of Little Debbie Swiss rolls. The first or outer layer is thin and tends to crumble easily. This layer is fudge and covers the entire roll. The second layer of Little Debbie Swiss rolls consists of chocolate cake. This layer is combined with the third layer of crème and rolled up under the fudge. Little Debbie Swiss rolls do not overdo it with the crème filling. That is an enjoyable aspect of this snack cake.

Some sweet snacks that contain fillings have either too much or not enough of it. Little Debbie Swiss rolls have the right amount of crème and layers surrounding it. Since the thin layer of fudge crumbles easily, it would be best to have a napkin or paper plate nearby. This can help to prevent a mess in your surroundings and on your clothes. If the fudge gets on your clothing, it can temporarily stain it if you smash it by accident.

Price
Little Debbie Swiss rolls appear to have doubled in price near the end of the year 2007. These food products went from costing 25 cents for one pack to being priced at 50 cents for each package of Little Debbie Swiss rolls. While the price change may not be extreme, this can have a significant impact on people living on small incomes and shopping on a small budget. Two packages of Little Debbie Swiss rolls will cost one dollar now. In some cases, it may be cost-effective to just purchase a family sized carton for $1.29 or less. At least with the family pack scenario, you get more single serve packs of Little Debbie Swiss rolls for the same amount that it costs for only two packages. This is something worth considering if you use Little Debbie Swiss rolls for a child’s school lunch during the week.

Taste Test
If you like fudge chocolate snacks and desserts, Little Debbie Swiss rolls are worth buying. They have a great tasting combination that is so enjoyable that you may want to eat them repeatedly. It is not unusual to crave more than one pack of Little Debbie Swiss rolls in a day. However, these snack cakes can make you sick if you eat a lot of them within a 24 hour period. It may be best to enjoy this snack occasionally, or you could end up disliking them.

Verdict
I would purchase Little Debbie Swiss rolls again, even though they went up by 25 cents. They are rich in flavor and can be enjoyed for dessert. Little Debbie Swiss rolls can also be eaten as an afternoon or late night snack. However, I would recommend brushing your teeth is eating them late at night. If some of the chocolate contents are left on your teeth, it may not be attractive in the morning when you are greeting people. Despite the increase in price, Little Debbie Swiss rolls are still relatively cheap snacks to buy. You may realize that they are well worth every penny when eating them.
