Lego Castle ‘The Knight’ Set 5615: Ensuring that Chivalry Survives!

You can never have too many knights and thanks to this small but impressive set from the new Lego Castle theme, you have a brave knight to add to your ranks. This is a great starter or add-on set for anyone that is into the castle theme; it can be added to almost all of the other Lego themes and has a high replay value. Suggested for kids ages five and older because of potential choking hazards, this is a nice small set that can easily be given as a gift, added to a Christmas stocking, Easter basket or as a reward for excellent behavior.

Lego Castle Knight
Product Number 5615
21 pieces – Ages 5 and older

The knight figure is done up with a two tone blue scheme; the shield and crest match perfectly to what you see on his torso. I was a little surprised when I got the set because I didn’t expect there to be that many pieces to it. The knight has two different helmets, a long pike, short sword, chest plate styled armor and the shield. The pieces are all done in a flat silver color; while that might not look as good as the metallic styled armor, it lasts longer, doesn’t lose its shine and you don’t have to worry about pieces flaking off.

One of the very cool features of the set is the armor rack that can hold the helmet, armor, sword, pike and shield. It’s made up of a handful of pieces and takes about five seconds to build but it helps to keep the pieces from getting lost. The drawback is there is only one snap piece so you can either have the pike or the sword on display but not both at the same time. You can solve that problem by adding a few extra pieces if you have them from other sets.

The replay value on this is high; when added to other sets you can create different armies or leaders of generic knights that don’t have a definitive color scheme or crest on their shields or uniforms. The armor piece is optional and only takes a few seconds to attach or remove so play time is never interrupted if a battle breaks out and you need to gear up.

You can buy this set at most larger retailers that sell Lego products or online at the Lego World Shop. The suggested retail price of this 21 piece set is $3.49 and you are definitely getting a good deal on it. The accessories alone are worth that much so it’s like getting a knight figure for free. Kids will have a blast with the weapons and making up their own adventures but to get the most from this set you will have to invest in others in the series. Other sets worth checking out include the ‘Crossbow Attack’ (Set 7090, $5.99), ‘Catapult Defense’ (Set 7091, $9.99) and the five figure ‘Knights Battle Pack’ (Set 852271, $12.99).
