Kooky Canuck in Memphis, TN

Beale Street, Buffalo Chicken

My wife and I visited Kooky Canuck with a friend on 9 December 2010. We entered the restaurant around 8:00 PM and there was no wait. It is located at 97 South 2nd Street in Memphis, TN 38103. Their telephone number is 901-578-9800. If you are traveling on Interstate 40-East take exit 1 and turn right onto North Front Street going South. Stay on North Front Street until you come to Union Avenue and make a right there. You will be on North Front Street for no more than 3 or 4 minutes. If you come to Beale Street you have gone too far. Once on Union Avenue one of the best places to park is a garage called Parking Can Be Fun. Depending on what is going on it should be $3 or $5. Once you have parked you will walk east on Union toward South 2nd Street. Take a right when you come to South 2nd Street. The walk should take around 5-10 minutes depending on pace. If you are traveling on I-40 West take exit 1-A and turn left (going South) onto North 2nd Street. Stay on 2nd Street until you come to Union Avenue and turn right onto Union Avenue. Again, if you come to Beale Street you have gone too far. Look for the Parking Can Be Fun garage and follow the directions from above. Kooky Canuck is located right across from the Peabody and right next to the Flying Fish.

The decor has a rustic log cabin feel. There are many different trophies from a variety of different animals on the wall. My wife ordered the BBQ Nachos as a meal and loved them. We have been to this restaurant on 4-5 different occasions and the BBQ Nachos are always ordered by someone. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and it was delicious. It came with fries.

If you listen to nothing else I say please listen to this. This place has the best desert I have ever tasted. It is absolutely off the charts. You can order either a Chocolate Chip Cookie or Peanut Butter. We have tried both and while I love both of them the chocolate chip cookie is definitely the best. The cookie comes in a small skillet with ice cream on top. It is very soft. It literally melts in your mouth. If you go to Kooky Canuck’s you have got to try this desert. My family is coming to visit tomorrow and we are going there just so they can try the cookie.

The total cost of our meal was $30.00. The BBQ Nachos were $8.49. The Buffalo Chicken sandwich was $7.99. The Chocolate Chip Cookie was $6.99. The sub-total was $23.17 and tax was $2.17. The total before tip was $25.64 and once you add a tip of $4.36 it equals $30.00.

This is definitely a place you need to eat at when visiting Memphis. It is a great place to eat after a Redbirds or Grizzlies game. It is right in the heart of downtown and you can check out the Peabody afterwards. Also, this place has been featured on Man vs. Food. It has one of the biggest hamburgers you have ever seen. Be sure and visit Kooky Canuck when you come to Memphis.
