Digital cameras can be a pricey piece of equipment but there is a budget model that Kodak sells that holds its own with the other more expensive digital cameras. The Kodak EasyShare C340 digital camera pairs ease of use with good picture quality and cheap price to make for one heck of a good digital camera for the price. You can grab one of the EasyShare C340’s for about $99 and take pictures that rival the $200 and $300 dollar cameras.
Today most digital cameras that are worth a damn cost $200 bucks and up this $200 dollar price range seems to be the focal point of a good digital camera. Many people don’t want to spend $200 or more on a digital camera they don’t even want to spend $100 and I don’t blame them a camera isn’t the most important thing but now Kodak has a camera that is under $100 bucks and works nearly as well as the more expensive cameras. The EasyShare C340 is a small compact little camera that takes great quality photos and has a small price tag of $99 bucks. This is a great budget camera, probably the best camera you can buy for under $100 bucks although after taxes you will be over this threshold, but don’t worry it is worth it.
The camera isn’t going to wow any one you show it to, it’s a little boxy and made of study plastic that feels strong and probably won’t break easily. The C340 has a tiny LCD screen but for the price you can’t complain, and it doesn’t have a lot of manual controls but again you get what you pay for. If you are looking for style then look else where this camera is not real eye catching instead it relies on the image quality of the photos it takes and the easy to navigate menu system. The camera does boast a 5 megapixel sensor and a 3X zoom which are both good features for the price. This camera is designed to be a cheap point and shoot camera with good image quality. It does what you expect it to and nothing more.
The design is simple a small boxy camera with a small display that is obvious due to price since there is ample space for a larger screen but it still only has a 1.6 inch screen. The screen is very vivid and easy to see; the menus are large and would be great for people with poor eye sight. The lack of too many manual controls is good if you are a true point and shoot user, but if you prefer to change settings then you will want to invest a little more money into your digital camera and get something other than the C340. The C340 is for people not interested in manual settings.
The camera performs well when I used it, nothing mind blowing about the performance just constant. Photo quality was good without to much distortion, movement, etc…photos came out clean and clear with good color and saturation. It takes pictures rapidly about 1 picture ever 2 seconds which is faster than normal for a camera this cheap. The burst mode shocked me with 3 pictures in 1.5 seconds and the pictures came out great. The lack of performance is when you turn the thing on it takes almost 6 seconds before you can take your first picture. The zoom works ok a little flaky but over all decent for a camera of this class. Another downfall of this camera is it takes AA batteries instead of being a rechargeable but again for the price you can’t complain.
Overall this is a great camera for the $99 dollar price tag it carries. You will get a good point and shoot camera that takes good quality pictures. You won’t have to worry about manual settings because they give you very limited amount of settings you can change. This camera is for anyone who wants a cheap camera that will produce good quality images, I also recommend it to people who are not experienced with digital cameras and just want something simple that will give them good pictures without any fuss.
