Kitty Hawk Kites is the Place to Be!

There are many different events throughout the summer hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites, in Nags Head, North Carolina. The events are co-hosted by several different organizations such as the Outer Banks Hospital and the Wright Flight Foundation. The Outer Banks Hospital and Kitty Hawk Kites are sponsoring the Outer Banks Sand sculpture festival which is held June 27th through June 30th at Jockey’s Ridge which is mile post 12.5 in Nags Head. Sandsculpt USA, which is a professional sand sculpting company, will be there all day sculpting amazing sand art. Come and watch the enormous sand art as it is being created.

The professionals from Sandsculpt USA will also be running a Sand Clinic, which could encompass a world of things. There will be all kinds of fun and entertainment to be enjoyed at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing, across from Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head, North Carolina. While you are enjoying the sand sculptures and the other fun activities, the Outer Banks Hospital will also be giving Skin Cancer Screenings, a great way to check up on your health and ways that you can help prevent skin cancer. All the proceeds from this event will benefit the Outer Banks Hospital. So come enjoy the sand sculptures, buy yourself an awesome t-shirt and help out the local hospital while doing it. Lots of fun, and a good cause, what’s to not like about this event?

The 34th annual Kite Festival in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina is already being anticipated by tourist and locals alike. Between the days of July 21st and July 22nd the Wright Brother Memorial in Kill Devil Hills (mile marker 8) will play host the Wright Kite Festival. The cost of admission is free, but cost of admission into the memorial is four dollars for adults, children under 16 get in for free. The fun filled days will begin at 10 am (on both days) and end at 4 pm (again both days). The kite festival is an event that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, there is a kite to please and amaze everyone.

There will be several large kites of various shapes including a large whales as well as members of Kitty Hawk Kites will be doing demonstrations of how to operate stunt kites. Many of the kites provided and up are due to Larger Than Life Kites which is a common sponsor for the kite festivals. Inside the pavilion there will be lessons on kite making. HQ Kites and other kite flying organizations will also be in attendance giving flying lessons. The Wright Kite Festival is an activity any one can enjoy whether it is marveling at the ginormous kites, learning to fly a stunt kite or simply learning to make a kite. There is something for everyone.

Are you looking for something fun to do in August? Then the 6th Annual Watermelon Festival is for you to enjoy. This even is also sponsored by Kitty Hawk Kites and the Wright Flight Foundation. Thursday August 9th is the big day for the summer blast, come to the Kitty Hawk Kite store in Nags Head for a backyard bash. Once again the Kitty Hawk Kites store is located at mile marker 12.5 in Nags Head. Along with all the amazing watermelon, come enjoy the fun activities that will enjoy parents and children alike. Activities such as a dunk tank, a moon bounce, seed spitting distance contest (boys will LOVE that one) pie eating and t-shirt tye dying along with many other amazing fun activities to enjoy.

If those action packed events are not enough, the Kitty Hawk staff will also be showing demonstrations on how to use juggling sticks, balance boards, and letting children (of all ages) try some of the top selling toys. There will be music to enjoy, food to nom on, and a raffle that is fabled to be the best raffle on the beach. All the proceeds for this event goes to the Wright Flight Foundation which helps 5th graders achieve their goals. The Wright Foundation has helped give children the opportunity to do things such as hang gliding, tandem hang gliding and plane rides. Things they may not have been able to do before. All the while the students are educated on the history and basics of flight.

The Outer Banks is one of the most beautiful places in North Carolina, Kitty Hawk Kites provides visitors with many amazing and fun filled events.
