Kid’s Room Space Savers

Closet Organization, Space Savers

Regardless of their age, children take up a lot of space. They have all the furniture adults do, but also own a lot of toys, arts & crafts, sports equipment, etc. Now you can maximize your child’s space with these kid’s room space savers.

Loft bed – You can expand the floor space in your child’s room by purchasing a loft bed. A loft bed sits up off the floor, and looks like a typical bunk bed except there is only one mattress. The space under the bed can be used as a play area, study spot, or as a storage space for toys or other collectibles. A loft bed is at the top of our list for great kid’s room space savers. Children like sleeping in a loft bed, and you’ll love the extra space it provides.

Shelves – Display your child’s stuffed animals, rarely used toys, or even their sports trophies on an attractive display of shelves. Paint them bright colors for young children, or leave them white for tweens and teens. They’ll look nice on the wall, but serve a functional purpose too.

Wall pegs – Near the bedroom door, install several wall pegs where your child can hang belts, hats, jackets, backpacks, etc. This will give your child one place to put all their personal belongings and free up the floor space where these items typically end up.

Double Duty Furniture – If it’s not practical, don’t buy it. Double Duty furniture is both practical and attractive. Toy boxes, hinged ottoman’s, hope chests, desks, and so on, make great kid’s room space savers because they serve more than one purpose. Children can store items inside these items, and they can be used as a seating space too. This is a piece of furniture your child can grow with, making it a smart financial purchase.

Under-bed Storage – There are many choices when it comes to under-bed storage. Long plastic Rubbermaid containers can slide underneath bedding, as can collapsible canvas totes. Bins, boxes, and other storage type containers can be used to hold off-season clothing, or other rarely used items. Free up some extra room with these great kid’s room space savers.

Wall Bed – If your child is too old for a Loft Bed, consider purchasing a wall bed. This type of bed disappears into the wall when not in use, and is pulled out for bedtime. With a wall bed, your child won’t even have to make their bed! But they will have to be able to pull it in and out of the wall themselves, so be sure they are the right size (and age) to be able to do so.

Closet Organization – Cleaning and organizing the closet can provide a lot of extra space. Most home improvement stores carry a wide selection of shelving, closet modules, stackable baskets, and space saving clothes hangers that will completely change the look and feel of your child’s closet. If you can’t afford to buy it all at once, buy one new item each payday. Before you know it, you’ll have enough products to put them to use.
