Interesting Facts About Elisabeth Hasselbeck

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is probably best known for being one of the hosts on the TV show, The View. I’d like to introduce you to Elisabeth Filarski Hasselbeck and share some facts about her that I think you’ll find interesting.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck: General
Born and raised in Cranston, Rhode Island, her mother, Elizabeth DelPadre was a lawyer and taught at a Catholic School. Here father, Kenneth Filarski, was an architect. Hasselbeck has one brother, Kenny, Jr. Elisabeth is of Polish and Italian ancestry.

After graduating from St. Mary’s Academy Bay View in Riverside, Rhode Island, Elisabeth (Hasselbeck) attended Boston College where she played softball, was the captain of her softball team and helped lead them to Big East Championships and two NCAA regional tournaments.

While at Boston College, she met her sweetheart, Tim Hasselbeck. Elisabeth graduated from Boston College in 1999 with a degree in fine arts.

That same year, 1999, she also ran the Boston Marathon – after training for a week!

After graduating from Boston College, Elisabeth Hasselbeck spent a brief period of time teaching in the rainforest in Belize. Belize is a very poor country located on the Caribbean in Central America.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Her career
Shortly after returning to America, she took a job working for Puma North America where she was a shoe designer.

She left Puma in 2001 to join reality TV. Elisabeth (Filarski) Hasselbeck was one of the most popular contestants on the second season of Survivor: Australian Outback. One of the most popular contestants, Elisabeth was originally a member of the Kucha tribe, which later merged with the Ogakor tribe, becoming the Barramundi tribe.

Lasting longer than nearly all of the other contestants, she was the 12th person voted off, outlasted by only three other people.

She made such a mark on Survivor: Australian Outback, that she was soon taped to host Style Network’s The Look for Less. Hasselbeck helped viewers imitate high fashion style at bargain prices. She proved so popular that she was a guest host on MTV and has appeared in several commercials.

In 2003, Elisabeth Hasselbeck was chosen to replace Lisa Ling as a co-host on ABC’s all-female talk show The View. A staunch conservative, she is quick to speak her views. Barry Manilow recently cancelled his guest appearance since he did not want to be interviewed by Hasselbeck.

Elisabeth was a Bush supporter, and addressed the Republican National Convention in August 2004. She is also a strong supporter of breast cancer research.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Her personal life
In 2002, Elisabeth married her college sweetheart and pro football player, Tim Hasselbeck. Hasselbeck recently signed to be the quarterback with the Arizona Cardinals.

Football runs in the family because Tim’s older brother, Matt Hasselbeck, is also a pro football player.

She has been honored with the Boston College Distinguished Alumni Award.

Tim and Elisabeth’s first daughter, Grace, was born in April 2005. Elisabeth is pregnant with their second child. She has announced that she will be taking maternity leave from The View on October 23, 2007 so that she and Grace can join Tim in Arizona. The family will be able to be together for the birth of their second child.

Hasselbeck plans to return to The View in January 2008.
