IceBreakers Sours: Review

Icebreakers, Tropical Fruit

I am currently in the midst of Somersizing; an eating program aimed at helping me eat more healthy foods in a much healthier way. So far I have managed to lose 10 pounds in just over three weeks. While that may not sound like a lot to some people, I am very happy with it, particularly considering the fact that I don’t have a lot of time for additional exercise.

One of the things that one tries to abandon while Somersizing is that rather nasty culprit known as sugar. It is an enemy that can screw up the body chemistry and undo all of the hard work that has been accomplished within a very short amount of time. Consequently, I am always in search of sugar free products that taste good and also satisfy my inevitable sweet tooth.

Recently, I discovered a product at my favorite store in the world – – The Dollar Tree. It comes from the makers of Hershey’s chocolate, which is, by the way, one of my favorite sugar free chocolates of all time. The new product I discovered this time around is a breath mint called IceBreakers.

I have tried IceBreakers in mint, wintergreen, and cinnamon flavors in the past. But they are not sugar free so were definitely out of my current diet. This new line, however, which is called IceBreakers Sours are sugar free. So, of course, I had to try them. I’m so delighted that I did.

These wonderful sour mints come in fruit sours (green package), tropical fruit sours (orange package), and berry sours (purple package). They come in round hard plastic discs that fit easily into any pocket or handbag.

The 1.5 ounce package retails for about $1.99 at most stores, but was only $1 at The Dollar Tree. That makes them a real bargain.

The fruit sours include tangerine passion, lime coconut, peach dragonfruit, and mango margarita. The tropical fruit sours come in pink lemonade, apple tangerine, and watermelon. The berry sours come in berry splash, strawberry, and raspberry lemonade. They are all delicious; even the lime coconut and I’m not a coconut fan.

If you don’t like sour mints or candies, like Sweet Tarts, then you won’t like IceBreakers Sours. However, if you like that extra little kick, these yummy breath mints are just perfect for refreshing the breath while also curing the need for a little something sweet. Your stomach won’t even realize that they are sugar free.

These zero calorie mints have less than one gram of carbs per serving. Unfortunately, they don’t contain any vitamins, minerals, or fiber. However, neither do other mints that are similar in nature.

I should mention that the first time I tried the mints, the sour flavoring irritated my mouth and tongue slightly. It was a bit like biting into a fresh a lemon. However, once I became adjusted to the flavor, all that was left was pure enjoyment.

I don’t have a favorite flavor blend. They are equally good so I guess it depends on whether you prefer regular, tropical, or berry fruit flavors. Or better yet, you might want to try them all. They are my favorite new sugar free treat. I give them five out of five stars.
