I.B.C. Cream Soda

Last weekend, I was checking out my buddy’s band while they were performing at a huge outdoor festival in Hartford, Connecticut. The air temperature was over 90 degrees and the humidity level was high. I wanted to purchase a soda, but also wanted to drink something that I normally did not consume. As I walked by one of the myriad food and beverage booths, I happened to notice a sign that was advertising I.B.C. brand Root Beer and Cream sodas.

Root beer and cream are two of my favorite soda flavors, so I gravitated toward that booth. I purchased a 12 ounce bottle of I.B.C. Cream Soda and I’m very glad that I did so. It is sometimes difficult to find cream soda at restaurants and retail stores. When I see it on a menu or stocked in a soda cooler at a restaurant, I almost always go for the cream soda. I am so pleased with this terrific soda, that I have decided to write a product review of it. Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of I.B.C. brand Cream Soda.

Size
The product being reviewed here is the six pack of I.B.C. Cream Soda. The package contains six 12 ounce glass bottles of soda. In physical size, the container takes up a decent amount of space, so refrigerating one or two bottles at a time would be a more efficient use of space than refrigerating the entire six pack.

Price
The regular retail price charged for one six pack of I.B.C. Cream Soda at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $4.69. That works out to roughly $.78c per bottle, which I think is quite reasonable. I.B.C. beverages are known for their high quality and the flavor, packaging and overall quality of their cream soda makes this soda’s retail price even more reasonable.

Consistency / Carbonation / Fizz
The consistency of I.B.C. Cream Soda is pretty much the same as most other brands and varieties of sodas, but I think that it possesses just a little more body than many other sodas. The carbonation level in this soda is just right, it offers enough carbonation to keep the product interesting and peppy, but not so much that it is hard to drink.

Also, when drinking cream soda, the head, or fizz – level is important. This excellent cream soda produces a frothy head every time it is poured.

Nutritional Facts
I.B.C. Cream Soda contains 180 calories, with 0 calories from fat, per one bottle serving. This cream soda also contains 0 grams trans fat, 0 grams total fat, 75 mg of sodium, 48 grams total carbohydrates, 48 grams of sugars and 0 grams of protein, per one bottle serving.

Taste / Flavor
Cream soda is by far, one of my favorite beverages. If I am at a store or restaurant and cream soda is offered as a beverage choice, almost invariably, I will choose to consume the cream soda. I just wish that more soda companies would produce this delightful – tasting drink.

The flavor of I.B.C. Cream Soda is very pleasant and satisfying. To me, it tastes like an authentic cream soda, similar to the ones that are served at delis in New York City. This soda maintains a rich sense of creaminess, but is not at all heavy. Nor is this soda too sweet. It offers a mildly – sweet, well – rounded creamy flavor that tastes great on its own and as an accompaniment to meals. Through the years, I have sampled many varieties of cream soda and I would have to say that I.B.C. Cream Soda is one of the best – tasting varieties I have tried..

Overall Rating
I.B.C. Cream Soda is a delicious, well – balanced variety of cream soda that rivals any other brand of cream soda. It is refreshing and not too sweet and it features no un – pleasant aftertaste.
