How to Write a Good Rap Song

Rap, Rap Beats

Writing a rap song is a lot like telling a story to a child. It has to be explanatory and rhyme as well. A lot of people believe that they are good rappers just because their rap rhymes, but in reality a good rap will talk a lot about the topic in hand, will rhyming and synchronizing with the background music and beats . So do you know what it takes to become a good rapper?

If you are a beginner, you can start by listening to rappers that you admire a lot. Make a note of what the rapper talks about in his rap. Some of the greatest rappers talk a lot about their own life stories and how they achieved success in life, but you can talk about anything else that you may like.

Once you have found the topic on which you want to write the rap on, you can go ahead and create a tune with some unique beats in it. The more unique the beats and the loops are, the more likely it is to get popular. A lot of software are available on the internet to help you out with this task.

A good rap song, has an intro, a chorus part and the main song itself. You can arrange these elements the way you like, but usually its good to have the first part of the song as an intro, followed by a paragraph of the main song, which is then followed by a chorus. Most rap songs repeat the arrangement i mentioned, but like i said above, you can always add your own twist to it to make it sound good.

After creating the background music for the song, you can write down a few points about the topic in hand. Say for instance you are trying to make a song about your experience at a club, or your experience at college, write a huge big paragraph about it mentioning what you saw and what you did there. When i say write a huge paragraph, its just to allow you to brain storm all the ideas you want to include in your rap song and give you a chance to make corrections easily. After the corrections are made, you will notice that you will no more have a huge paragraph !

Try to avoid rapping about fictitious things that really don’t exist in normal life. Talk about real life instances because that way you will be able to connect with your listeners easily. If you want to write a good rap song about something that doesn’t exist, try to make it funny throughout, and let people know that they must take the rap song lightly.

Don’t try to spend a lot of money behind expensive softwares and music tracks, since most of it is already available for free. The key to make a good rap song lies in the emotional attachment your create amongst your listeners, and the originality and likability of the loops and beats in your song.
