How to Perform Facial Extractions

Extractions, Facial Toner, Impurities, Milia, Whiteheads

Facial Milia, blackheads, and whiteheads, appear at one time or another in your face. Unfortunately, extracting these from your face is a necessity to keep your face looking the best it can look. You don’t have to maul your face, though, to get rid of these facial nuisances. Here are some guidelines for helping you make facial extractions the easiest they can be for you:

Extract after a warm shower. You can best see facial Milia, blackheads, and whiteheads that appear on your face right after a warm bath/shower. These impurities tend to surface during this time, and the steam helps open up your facial pores. Such opening of facial pores helps you extract the impurities easier. So, do your extractions after a warm cleansing of the face. If you don’t have time to take a bath/shower, wash your face well with warm water, dry your face, and then proceed with facial extractions.

Use sunlight for viewing. Lighted makeup mirrors help pinpoint troubled spots in your facial area, but the best light for finding the facial Milia, blackheads, and whiteheads that you need to extract is actually natural sunlight. Find a place in your house where the sunlight shines through well, and place your mirror in the window. Be sure to pull back the curtain and turn off the mirror lights. The mirror lights might actually take away from the natural light. The best sunlight for extractions is during the first half of each day.

Use gloves when extracting. Fingernails tend to make marks on your face, and you might even be allergic to your own fingernails. If so, you’ll end up with marks on your face that will be slow in going away. You can avoid these red marks by using plastic gloves when doing your facial extractions. If you don’t have any plastic gloves available, cover your fingers with Kleenex or toilet tissue to help keep your face from coming in contact with your fingernails. This helps reduce damage to your skin.

Sterilize any pin you use. For stubborn blackheads, white heads, and especially facial Milia, you might have to use a pin/needle to help open up the skin enough so that the facial impurities will push up and out of your skin. If you find this a necessary procedure, be sure to use alcohol to sterilize the tip of the pin/needle to avoid infecting your skin. If you need to extract an impurity near your eye, don’t attempt this yourself. If you need to use a pin/needle to open the skin, you could accidentally stick your eye with the pin/needle. Seek out medical help.

Clean your pores. Once you have finished your facial extractions, wash your face well with warm water and a dermatologist-approved cleanser. You can use a facial toner to help close your facial pores. Alcohol serves as a good toner for your nose and your chin because these two areas are typically oilier than other areas of your face. Unless you have a really oily face, though, I wouldn’t use alcohol as a facial toner on the entire face. You’ll end up with extra-dry skin if you do. Use a toner and then moisturize well with a lotion that does not block skin pores.
