How to Get Rid of Your Whiteheads

Cystic Acne, Skincare Tips, Whitehead, Whiteheads

Whiteheads are the biggest problem with my skin. I do have other kinds of acne that can be more visible but what can be more annoying than bunch of white bumps that just does not go away? Other skin imperfections can be covered up easily and will go away in a few days, if I treat them with simple spot treatments, but whiteheads are not like that at all. They stay for weeks and months at end! But, thankfully, or should I say unfortunately, I have had whiteheads for a very long time and developed simple know-how’s to get rid of the whiteheads effectively.

First way that I know is the simplest way: use treatments specifically designed for whiteheads. Out of all, I find that Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion is the most effective in getting rid of whiteheads and fast. I tried several, including other spot treatments and cleansers for whiteheads but none come close to the effectiveness of this Drying Lotion. When I first started using this, the whiteheads were completely gone in one or two days. I was completely amazed with the results. But if you keep using this for a long time, you start to experience that whiteheads don’t disappear as soon as you first started using it. Another con of this method is that your skin get really dry, hence the name Drying Lotion, and flaky. You should know that flaky skin is just going to cause more problems with your skin. So, I recommend using this only for a short amount of time. But if you have to keep using this, take a day or two off between uses.

A well-known home remedy that also works is extraction. But, extracting whiteheads are far trickier than other types of acnes. Since whiteheads are deep inside your pores and have a potential to develop into cystic acne, you have to be careful to extract all oils from the whitehead and sanitize the place that you extracted as well. First, you have to open your pores. I have to say that this step is very important because if you don’t open your pores, the whitehead is not going to come out because it is deep inside your pores. You can open your pores by using a steam towel method, which you place a steam towel in your face for about ten minutes. Then, you can either use a pimple extractor that you can get at drugstores or department stores or two cotton swabs. I find that pimple extractor works better and will be easier for you, but cotton swabs will do the job. You have to squeeze the whitehead until you see that the yellowish oil comes out. When I extract my whiteheads, I usually find that they are small hard balls that pop out easily without any bleeding, but if you can’t get them to come out and start to bleed, stop and open your pores again using steam towel and try again. Then, you have to sanitize your face and you can do this easily by using alcohol toner on your face. Then, I recommend that you put wet green tea bag on the place that you just extracted for half an hour to calm your skin. I find that green tea bag helps to calm the skin and reduce redness.

Whiteheads are persistent. They appear in the same places and don’t seem to leave. You have to be extra careful when dealing with whiteheads because they have a potential to grow to full sized cystic acne that can be painful. Just another tip, remember not to use anything that is supposed to tighten your pores when you have a lot of whiteheads. I found that it makes the whiteheads worse. You should use the pore tightening products after you have extracted the whiteheads or gotten rid of them to tighten the pores and prevent whiteheads, not when you have them. This is just two ways to get rid of whiteheads. For and ways to prevent other types of acne and other skincare tips, check out my blog at standupforme.blogspot.com.
