How to Make a Wedding Cake from Towels

Bath Towels

A wedding cake made from towels can serve as a cute centerpiece, or it can just be a unique wedding gift. You will need two bath towels, two hand towels and two washcloths. You can buy any color towel you want or that the bride and groom want. White towels with a little print on them
make a really pretty wedding towel cake.

You will first take the bath towels and open them all out. Then fold them in half lengthwise and then in half again so they are long and thin. Starting at small end of the towel, begin rolling it up. When
you get to the end, overlap the end of the first towel and the end of the second towel. It is best to put a few pins in them to hold them together. Continue rolling the bath towels until you have a large round towel. Pin the ends so it stays rolled. This is the bottom layer of the cake. To make it easier to move or transport, you may want to put a large cardboard circle under the bottom layer.

To make the second layer of your wedding towel cake, you will do the same thing with the hand towels. The third layer of your wedding towel cake is made the same way with the washcloths.

Now all you have to do is stack the three rolls. If you are going to have to move it, you may want to carefully put a wooden dowel down through the center of all three layers and cut the top off of the dowel. This will make the three tiers of your wedding towel cake more stable.

Now you are ready to decorate your wedding towel cake. If you know the bride’s favorite colors or her favorite flowers, use them. Take your artificial flowers apart and place the stems down in the folds of the towels, trimming each layer with a circle of flowers. If you prefer, you can use bows or a combination of bows and flowers to decorate your cake. If you want to place a topper on the cake, you can glue a circle of cardboard to the top of the dowel to hold your topper. A big bow or several flowers also works as a topper for the wedding towel cake.

If the shower has a theme, make your wedding towel cake to go with the theme. For instance, if the theme is small kitchen trinkets, you can stick potato peelers, hand can openers, zesters and such sticking out of the folds of the towels intermixed with flowers and/or bows. Add a large wooden spoon or whisk with a ribbon around it down into the top of the cake and you have a small kitchen utensil towel cake.

Have fun with it and be creative in making your wedding towel cake for the next wedding shower or tea you are invited to attend.
