How to Blow Dry Hair to Create Volume

Blow Dry, Blow Drying

Most of us want to have bouncy, full-of-life, volumized hair, but not all of use know how to achieve it. Getting volume in your hair is pretty simple, but keeping it in your hair throughout the day or night is considerably trickier.

The best tip for getting volume into your hair is to use a blow dryer. First, allow your hair to dry halfway before you begin. When your hair is slightly damp, apply a handful of volumizing mousse to your hair using your hands and fingers. You do not need a lot; just a small handful will do the trick. Afterward, tilt your head upside down so your hair is in front of your face, dangling towards the ground. Turn your blow dryer on and begin to blow dry your hair while your head is upside down. Blow dry your hair this way until all of your hair is completely dried. After that, flip your hair back up and lightly comb it out. Next, flip your hair upside down again and spray it with a lightweight hairspray. This should help you get some maximum volume into your hair, so that you can keep the body in your hair throughout your day or night. Before you are finished, gently run the comb once more just over the top layer of hair to smooth it out.

To get volume into dry hair, take a spray bottle and lightly wet your hair. Then, flip your hair upside down and blow dry it, and follow the same steps as above. If it is raining out, and you want to keep volume in your hair, use an umbrella to keep your hair covered, because once your hair is wet it will go flat almost immediately.

Another way to use a blow dryer to create volume in your hair is to add a volumizing hair product to your hair. After that, take a hair clip and clip the top half of your hair up, so you can focus on the hair underneath first. Then, take your round brush and begin lightly wrapping strands of your hair around it, blow drying each strand until your hair is dried. Next, remove the clip from the top half of your hair and begin wrapping those strands of hair around the round brush one at a time until you hair is completely dried on the top. This will help add some light bounce and volume to your hair. Once you are done blow drying your hair, you might want to add a little bit of volumizing hairspray, tipping your head upside down and spraying your hair lightly with it. Afterward, flip your head back up and let your hair fall wherever it wants too.

These are only a few tips and tricks to getting volume into your hair using a blow dryer. Women with curly or thick hair may not need to resort to blow drying to create body. Often, they can simply tip their head upside down and shake their locks to restore volume throughout the day.
