In traditional eastern medicine health problems are believed to be caused by chi blockages. Another acupressure belief is that health issues can be improved by treating the appropriate meridians to release the chi blockages. Eye problems are associated with the liver and the liver meridian. The lens and pupil are associated with the kidney meridian, the sclera with the lung meridian, the arteries and veins with the heart meridian, the upper eyelid with the spleen, the lower eyelid with the stomach and the cornea and iris are associated with the liver meridian. The spleen and stomach meridians are associated with circulation in the eyes.

Give your hands a thorough massage to begin an acupressure treatment for the eyes. Massage the fingers, fingertips, fingernails and wrists. Massage and press the liver, kidney, lung, heart, spleen and stomach points for healthy eyes. All of these meridians are associated with the eyes and eye health. These are some acupressure points for eye health. They will help to lessen eye strain and tension and improve circulation to the eyes. Try to learn these acupressure eye points and become familiar with their location. Be careful. Remember to use gentle pressure with eye acupressure points. Don’t press too hard.

Two acupressure points for eye health are B 1 and B 2. B 1 is at the side of the nose next to the inner corner of the eye. B 2 is on the forehead in the depression at the inner end of the eyebrow. These acupressure points are important points for eye problems. They are helpful for blurred vision, early stage cataracts, conjunctivitis and glaucoma.

The Yuyao point is in a depression in the middle of the eyebrow. This point is good for eye problems associated with worry and mental strain. It is also good for other eye problems.

Sanjiao is in the depression at the outer end of the eyebrow. This acupressure point is good for eye and facial problems.

GB 1 is on the eye socket next to the outside corner of the eye. GB 1 is good for eye problems including blurred vision, early stage cataracts, conjunctivitis, dry eyes, headaches, itchy eyes and photophobia.

Qiuhou is on the eye socket between ST 1 and GB 1 in the middle of ST 1 and GB 1.

ST 1 is on the ridge bone of the eye socket directly below the pupil. ST 1 is a main point for eye problems.

For this acupressure routine for better eye health you will be gently massaging the points around the eyes for 5 to 10 seconds. Start with B 1 at the inner corner of the eye and gently massage the point for approximately 5 to 10 seconds. Then gently massage B 2 and continue massaging each eye acupressure point. You can massage the points near each eye individually or both of your eyes at the same time. You can repeat this massage as many times as you want to throughout the day.

Massage the hollow area of the temples in an up and down movement. Massage the cheeks under the cheekbone below the center of the eye. Massage the bones behind the ear lobes in an up and down movement with the thumbs. Gently massage the area behind the eyes on the back of the head. Massage the bones on the back of the head at the top of the neck with the thumbs. Massage each area eight times. Then palm your eyes to rest them. Look away into the distance to relax your eyes.
