Baby Shower Favors, Trinkets

It can be difficult selecting a baby shower favor that all guests will enjoy, let alone keep or treasure. Instead, try baking your favorite treats and recipes and decorate to fit a baby theme. Dolled- up baked goods are not only a great favor, but they also can double up as dessert and table decorations!

Cookies

Mix together a few batches of your favorite cookie recipe (plan 1-2 cookies per person and mix accordingly). Before baking a usual, separate the batter into a few different bowls. Drop 1-2 drops of food coloring into each bowl and stir. This will give the cookies a light pastel color. The more drops of coloring used, the darker the cookies will be.

Next, use a baby-themed cookie cutter set to created shaped cookies. Bake as usual. Once the cookies are baked and cooled, decorate with sprinkles, colored icing, small candies or trinkets from your local craft store.

Place the cookies on display for guests to admire throughout the shore. Leave a candy bag or box close by for guests to take a few home.

Cupcakes

There are a few different options for making your cupcake favors more exciting. The most basic and least time consuming option is to used colored baking cups. Mix your favorite cupcake batter as usual and place into the baking cups. Place into a cupcake tray and bake as normal. Decorate with candies or small trinkets.

If you’re looking for a more lively kind of mold, try Silly-Critters! Baking Cups or Teddy Bear Baking Cups. The Silly Critters Cups actually change the mold of the cupcake; it gives the cupcake “legs”! Add food coloring to the batter and bake according to the Silly Critters directions. Once the cakes are baked and cooled, decorate to create any variety of animals you’d like! The Teddy Bear Cups are more simple, but you’ll need as many molds as there are guests. Dye the batter light brown and bake according to the Teddy Bear Cup directions. Guests will actually eat the cake out of the Bear mold.

Once the cupcakes are decorated, arrange them on a tier for display. This allows the cupcakes to be on display for decoration prior to guests taking one home.

Lollipops

Candy lollipops are an easy project. Simply buy different colored Candy Melts – chocolates used for baking purposes – and melt, according to the directions on the bag. Once melted, place into baby-themed molds, such as carriages. Place the sticks in with the molds and freeze.

Once the candies are hardened, place into a drawstring bag and decorate with colored ribbon.

Chocolate Candies

Purchase Candy Melts in any colors you’d like. Melt according to the directions and place into your candy molds. There are many different candy molds that can be used for baby showers, such as baby foot molds and basic shapes. If you’d like a wide variety of shapes, there are also baby themed chocolate mold kits.

Once the candies are hardened, place into a drawstring bag or a small candy box. Decorate with stickers or markers.

Enjoy!

Consider these options as an alternative to small key chains or trinkets. And remember to check about guest allergies before using ingredients that are known to cause reactions.
