High School Musical 2 Party Ideas

High School Musical, High School Musical 2, Koolaid, Microsoft Paint

Disney’s well received, highly appreciated High School Musical’s sequel, High School Musical 2, debuts on the Disney Channel Friday, August 17,2007. While, in the past, I have been leery of Disney hoorahs, as they have just always been far too ‘mature’ for my tween, High School Musical was fantastic. Our daughter is 12 and a huge High School Musical fan(I have to admit to being rather impressed with the show myself) so naturally she has been counting down the days for High School Musical 2 and decided to plan a party to herald the event. Here is what our High School Musical 2 party plans look like-all done on a budget of $100 for food, candy, drinks, decorations and party favors.

The Invitations:
The eight very special personalized invites were created on our computer, no special software, just basic Microsoft Paint and clip art and the girlie’s ingenuity. On white paper, High School Musical 2 clip art was scattered amongst the pertinent information printed in blue ink. This was printed out, folded, addressed and delivered to the honored guests-all of whom excitedly accepted the invitation.

The Decorations:
Our living room, where the TV sits holding court, has been commandeered as central command for this High School Musical 2 party. Blue and white(you know, the Wildcat colors) streamers have been strung across the room then looped on every possible surface. Multicolored balloons litter the floor, walls and furniture and the lamp lightbulbs are of rainbow hues. A table is draped with a whimsical picnic blanket, standing at the ready to hold the candy bounty and the like. A true, blue party atmosphere reigns.

The Party Favors:
All summer, the girlie has been planning to order official High School Musical party supplies from a place online. Of course, the time flew by and suddenly it was party time, with no official party supplies as of yet. Walmart was approached and did not disappoint. We have High School Musical plates and napkins, complete with stickers, plastic tambourines and the ultimate party favor, a High School Musical Wildcats Yearbook! The girlie was thrilled to find this yearbook and plans to have all of her friends sign it and paste a picture from her party inside the front cover. This is a fantastic keepsake idea for her High School Musical Party, we were beyond excited to find such a thing.

The Food:
Food-wise, the girlie wanted lots and lots of candy, chips, tropical punch koolaid , Mom’s stir fry for supper and waffles for the morning-after. For these things, we headed to Sam’s Club. Again, we were not disappointed. The girlie is the proud hostess with a bucket of 40 ring pops, a box of 50 pixie sticks and a box containing a variety of M&Ms; to share. Four bags of various chips, a jumbo box of waffles and we are set.

High School Musical was a fun experience for my tween and I. We await the premiere of High School Musical 2 on Disney tonight with hopes of a similar success for the girlie and her friends. I, too, will be watching-sneaking M&Ms; along the way. Cheers to Disney on this one!
