Sometimes there is a picture of a piece of dark chocolate melting that seems to be melting. Since there are many different sizes of Special Dark bars and many different products, designs vary.
However, nutrition information and ingredients will always be found on either the back or one of the sides of the packaging.
What the product promises:
On Special Dark products, there is a picture of a cacao bean with a leaf over it. Around the picture the words “A natural source of flavanol antioxidants” is printed.
Sometimes the following text can be found on the wrapper of Special Dark products: “The natural antioxidants found in tea and certain fruits can also be found in Hershey’s Special Dark dark chocolate. Enjoy in moderation as part of a healthy diet and active lifestyle.
The Special Dark products also state, “Mildly Sweet Chocolate.”
What the product offers:
If Hershey’s Special Dark products are in a chocolate bar that is more than one of the minis, the pieces are made so they are easy to break. They are smooth and they will melt if they get warm. However, they do not melt as easily as the Dove chocolate bars.
The chocolate is mildly sweet. It had the expected bitter taste. It also has Hershey’s typical little bit of a sour taste. This is done on purpose because of the simple mistake when the first Hershey’s bar was made. It gives the chocolate a unique taste that is quite enjoyable.
Hershey’s states that Hershey’s Special Dark dark chocolate contains 45% cacao.
Is it worth it?
Hershey’s has always been an affordable treat. It is worth picking up a single serving size bar for a quick snack or dessert. Larger bars can be bought to either share with others or save and eat little bits at a time.
Comments:
These chocolate bars are a good quality dark chocolate. However, Hershey’s does make chocolate that contains more cacao than the Special Dark bars. However, these bars do not come as single servings.
