Herbs for Anger

People who are quick to anger often handle stress by lashing out. Anger can be seen as a form of anxiety for some people, but since anger is a frightful emotion, it often is not considered that it’s an emotion that can be quelled by any kind of herbal remedy. Anger may be an emotion or just “part of someone’s personality”, but for a person who is quick to anger all the time and doesn’t want to be so mad, here are some herbs that can really help out.

Oddly enough, a lot of the herbs that help to treat anxiety are used to treat anger. But it’s not a far reach, since anger heightens the “fight or flight” response of rapid heartbeat and raised adrenaline, just like anxiety does. The only difference is that rather than choosing “flight” those quick to anger show “fight”. And fight they do. Here are some helpful herbs that can help an angry person remain more calm and less apt to snap.

Chamomile is a mild sedative and mood calming herb. In anxious people and angry people alike, chamomile works to calm the body from the inside out, creating a peaceful feeling. Drinking chamomile tea in times of stress or anxiety can help a person prone to anger remain in a calmer state when they would normally lash out.

Peppermint tea is a great way to calm down as well. With a naturally cool sensation, peppermint tea puts the body in a calm state due to anger-triggering situations, and help keep down that rise in adrenaline. The scent of peppermint alone is a great way to mentally calm oneself who is prone to anger. Peppermint drops or candies help, so long as they are not mostly sugar, to suck on and get that calming sensation when anger is imminent.

Lavender, either as a tea or an essential oil, is well-known for its ability to calm and even mildly tranquilize and anxious or sleep-deprived person. It’s mildly catatonic, and great to calm extreme feelings of anger or anxiety and put a person at peace. The oils can be rubbed on the skin in a lotion, a lavender candle or essential oil can be heated, or a lavender tea can be prepared to help calm a person already at an angry stage to pull out of it faster and remain calm.

Some people just deal with their anxieties different from others, and that includes being excessively anger and very quick to anger. However, there are herbs out there that can help calm your anger before it starts, and even herbs that can pull you out of anger and anxiety when you feel you can’t be reached. Take a deep breath, take a drink of soothing, calming tea, and before long with consistency of use, you’ll feel that anger you hate just fade away and you can deal with life much more happily.
