London, England was a long history, so it is not surprising that there would be reports of haunting in the old city. The most haunted hotel in London is said to be the Langham Hotel. The Langham Hotel on Regent Street is the original grand hotel. Langham is low key about the reports of haunting, but stories circulate anyway.

Ghost Stories

There are tales of haunting that circulate about this hotel. In fact, some consider it among the most haunted hotels in the world.

BBC Broadcasting used to own the Langham Hotel. During that time journalists staying at the hotel reported ghost sightings including ghosts in Victorian garb and the ghost of a German soldier. Another claim was that Napoleon III haunted the basement.

Neigh sayers speculate that the journalists were just making up stories to get out of deadlines.

Reportedly there are at least five ghosts that make regular appearances at this hotel. A silver haired Victorian era man with blank staring eyes is said to be the spirit of a doctor who murdered his wife and then committed suicide. There is a ghost who is said to be a German prince who threw himself out the window of an upper floor.

Room 333 is supposed to be the most haunted room in the elegant hotel. In this room a BBC newscaster woke up to see a florescent ball which took human shape before his eyes.

The Langham Hotel opened in 1865 as the first grand hotel in England and Europe. Over the years the hotel has hosted royalty, foreign dignitaries and celebrities. Langham is a Victorian hotel with an extremely rich heritage.

Emperor Louis Napoleon III spent much of his last exile at the Langham. Noel Coward was a frequent guest who worked on his pre second World War stage plays while in a suite at the hotel.

The Langham was visited by Diana, Princess of Wales in 1991. Royal guests have also included the Duke of Edinburgh, the Duchess of Kent and Sarah Duchess of York. Recent celebrity guests include Rod Stewart, Shirley Bassey, David Hasselhof, Elton John, Rikki Lake, Phil Collins, Richard Gere and Rod Steiger.
