Golf Courses in Lake County, Ohio

Lake County

Lake County offers a variety of golf courses for every type of golfer. They range from easy to challenging and from cheap to semi private. If you are ever in the area, you should bring your best game to some of these courses.

Black Brook Golf Course, Mentor– This course differs from one nine to the next. The front nine is wide open and allows you to make some mistakes here and there. The back nine is lined with woods forcing you to execute off the tee. The course is priced reasonably during the week and they also have a range. The greens can be quick during mid summer. It is a par 70 with 6,211 yards from the back tees.

Erie Shores Golf Course, Madison– Erie Shores is a shorter course for those who may not hit the ball as far. Par on the front is only 34 but be careful on a tee shot over the lake on #1. If you try and cut the corner too much, you will be hitting your third off the tee. It is a par 70 with 6,000 yards from the back tees.

Lost Nation Golf Course, Willoughby– This course is slowly becoming a better value. It is very cheap while it is being remodeled. Some of the holes really look nice like #2, a par five that is about 490 yards. Take advantage of the par 5s by trying to make birdie. They have a very nice range with unique all weather mats. It is 6,430 yards from the back tees and is par 72.

Manakiki, Willoughby Hills– Manakiki is a much more challenging course at a very competitive price. It is one of the best public courses for the price. Every hole is a new and completely different challenge. The greens can be tough in the summer and have pretty decent break. It features 6,625 yards from the back tees and is par 72.

Painesville Country Club, Painesville- This course was once private and has the best staff in my opinion. Everyone will greet you with open arms even if it’s your first time. They are currently remodeling some holes on the back nine but this is a very well kept course and it is easy to get tee times. It is a challenging 5,956 yards from the longest tees and a par 71. Don’t let that yardage fool you, this isn’t a simple course.

Pine Ridge, Wickliffe– This course is run by Lake Metroparks and is very well kept. It is a little on the pricey end for a not extremely challenging round. It has the shortest par 3 you’ll play at about 85 yards. If I had to pick a course on this list to pass on, it would be this one.

Stonewater Golf Club- Stonewater has been featured on Tee It Up Ohio and is the most beautiful course on the list. Everything is in great shape and if you know someone or have enough money to play it, I would. It took me five or six times to really start to understand the ins and outs of this course. It hosts the Division I high school boy’s golf district tournament. Watch out for number 17, a very long par 3 over water.
