Six Flags St. Louis: Plan Your Visit

Hurricane Harbor, Six Flags

Have you ever gotten somewhere for a day of fun and realized you should have brought certain things or planned ahead better? Then you end up spending lots of time and money when you could be having fun instead. Don’t make that mistake when you head to Six Flags St. Louis. This article will tell you everything you need to know ahead of time and what you will need to bring with you to have a worry free time at Six Flags St. Louis.

Avoid Crowds– The first thing to decide is when you are going to visit Six Flags St. Louis. To avoid crowds visit in April, May, September or October. If you want to visit the water park too then visit during the summer on a weekday. Whenever you visit be sure to arrive at opening time. This will ensure a better parking spot and the first several rides you go to will be extremely short lines, especially if you run to the back first. Thus ensuring that you get the most rides for your time. If you are planning on going to the water park be sure to hit it early, the later in the day it is the busier it gets, sometimes resulting in a long line just to get into the water park since it has a certain capacity limit.

A new way to avoid long lines on certain popular attractions is with the new Flash Pass. The Flash Pass is something you can buy at the main gate that will allow you to reserve a ride time instead of waiting in line for many of Six Flags St. Louis top attractions such as Batman, Thunder River, Tidal Wave and more. Check out www.sixflags.com for the full list of rides available with the Flash Pass and the prices for the three levels of the Flash Pass. The Flash Pass is an extremely cool way to skip the ride lines at Six Flags St. Louis, so of course it’s not cheap.

Cloudy, slightly rainy days are also a great time to visit Six Flags St. Louis, if you can deal with the weather you will most likely be awarded with very short wait times without buying a flash pass. You might even be able to ride your favorite rides over and over again.

Food– Six Flags St. Louis has many places to eat, but surprisingly few of them carry healthy items and it takes awhile to find them. Panda express is probably your best bet if you want to sit down in the air conditioning to eat something that doesn’t look like carnival food. But be aware, we payed over thirty dollars for three meals, and that only included two drinks!

The cheaper, smarter way to go is to bring a picnic lunch and leave it in the car. You can get a hand stamp at the gate and find a tree in the parking lot to sit under and enjoy your lunch. Another way to save money is to buy one of Six Flags St. Louis reusable drink cups. The refills are $1.00 and you can bring it back for other visits. Several rides have holders for your drink cup at the entrance of the line for that ride. An even cheaper way to go would be to borrow someone else’s for the day and to fill it with water at the water fountains.

Hurricane Harbor- A few helpful tips for when you enter this water park at Six Flags St. Louis. There are sandal cubbies at the bottom of each ride so be sure to wear your footwear or your footsies are going to get burned on the hot sidewalks. There are free tubes at the rides that require them and also for the lazy river, you use them once and then give them to the next person in line. The other option is to rent one for the day, which you can also use in the wave pool. If you are planning on just lazing about in the wave pool and on the lazy river then they may be worth the money, but if you’re planning on riding the rides it may be a waste. Many of the rides have their own specialized tubes designed specifically for that ride and you’ll have to carry it through the lines and hope no one takes it while you are on the ride.

Other things to remember include that towels are not a necessity if it’s very warm out and will be just one more thing to carry. At the entrance to hurricane harbor we found fresh fruit including watermelon, cantaloupe, oranges and apples. The watermelon was a delicious healthy treat. The cantaloupe we got tasted horrible and we ended up throwing it away.

Misc. Things to Bring– Wear a watch, there are almost no clocks inside the park. Bring your own sunscreen and put it on regularly, they have some you can buy but it is three times what it is worth. Bring extra clothes and shoes if you are not going to the water park and be sure to have good walking shoes for the main park.

Think about how you are going to carry your money. A man would still be able to use his wallet but a woman needs to remember she will not be able to take her purse on many of the rides. Also remember that however you carry your money put it in something waterproof since many of the rides in the main park include water. Six Flags St. Louis has Fun Bucks which are wrist bands that can be purchased at the main gate and used like cash at most places in Six Flags.

With these tips and advice in mind, your trip to Six Flag’s St. Louis and Hurricane Harbor will be a blast!
