Gem and Gold Mines in North Carolina

Gem Stones, Gold Mines, Gold Panning, North Carolina

I have added some North Carolina gold and gem mines to my articles here at Associatedcontent.com. To see my previous articles about gold or gem mines in North Carolina then check the sources below.

For each North Carolina gold or gem mine listed in this article there will be a Web site link or other contact information. If you want to know what the big deal is and what to expect at a gem or gold mine then click this link.

Doc’s Rocks Gem Mine

Doc’s Rocks is an educational gem mine located at 129 Mystery Hill Lane in Blowing Rock North Carolina and you can visit the Web site here. Doc’s Rocks is open to kids ages 5 to 15 and they have to be accompanied by an employee of the mine when they are inside. The kids will get to mine a bucket of ore to look for gemstones which they keep, if they find any.

Randall Glen Gem Mine

The Randall Glen Gem Mine is in Big Sandy Mush North Carolina which is a little Northwest of Asheville. You can find this North Carolina Gem Mine’s Web site with this link. Rubies and Sapphires are two of the gems you may find here as well as some gold if you want to do some gold panning in their creek. You can even buy some dirt and have it sent to your home so you can do your gold panning there!

Mountain Creek Gold Mine

The Mountain Creek Gold Mine is located next door to the Cotton Patch mine which you will find in my other articles in the resources below. The Mountain Creek Gold Mine is located in New London North Carolina, call Bill Tucker at 704-985-8374 for directions and more information.

I love two things about the Mountain Creek Gold mine in North Carolina. This is a family owned business and has been for 75 years. Also they do no salting so what you find on the property was put their by God as Nadine Bowers told me. She is the daughter of mine owner Bill Tucker.

You can rent dredges and high bankers ($65 for their biggest high banker per day) and work as much as you can stand to look for Gold. You will also find gem stones native to the area.

Gold City Gem Mine

The Gold City Gem Mine is located at 9410 Sylva Road in Franklin North Carolina; visit their Web site with this link. Gold City has been under the same ownership for over 25 years so they must know what they are doing.

There is free admission and the Gold City Gem Mine in North Carolina offers group rates on the mining. Cool days (and trust me there are some in WNC) are fine since they have a heated indoor flume. You can do gold panning or search for gemstones as well as shop in their general or jewelry stores.
