Baby Shower Games, Planning a Baby Shower

You’ve got the invitations, decided on the decorations, and ordered the cake. Now it’s time for the fun part – planning the games! Games are fun and enjoyable and will help keep the guests entertained. If you’re planning a baby shower, and searching for amusing ideas, here are some games to consider.

Baby Shower Game #1: Sculpt-A-Baby

This is an excellent game that will allow guests to show off their creativity. Provide each guest with with play-doh, clay, or a bar of soap and something to sculpt with, and instruct them to create a baby. Set a timer for 7-10 minutes or so. Let the mom be the judge of the most realistic, or best-looking “baby” – and provide the artist with a prize. Be sure to take lots of pictures of the “babies”. This will be a memorable game for sure!

Baby Shower Game #2: Mommy Quiz

This fun game will test the guests on how well they know the Mommy-to-Be. Before the shower, come up with 10 -20 questions about the expecting mom. It could be questions such as “How did she meet her husband?”, “What is her middle name?”, “How long has she been married?”, “What was her first job?”, “How many nieces/nephews does she have?”, and so forth. If you don’t know the answers, get them from the mom beforehand. Whoever gets the most questions right, wins!

Baby Shower Game #3: Guess the Baby Food

This one will create some laughter for sure. Buy a variety of baby food – perhaps, squash, peaches, applesauce, peas, pears, carrots, etc. Then put the baby food in unlabeled bowls and have the guests guess which food is which. You can do it blindfolded if you want. The person to guess the most foods correctly is the winner.

Baby Shower Game #4: Guess Mom’s Tummy Size

The object of this game is to see who can correctly guess the girth of the expecting mom’s tummy. Pass around a toilet paper roll, and instruct each participant to remove enough tissue that they think will fit around mom’s tummy. (You can also use scissors and string.) The person who is the closest is the winner! (You might have 2 winners.) It’s a fabulous game.

Baby Shower Game #5: Advice with Toilet Paper

This is more of an activity than a game. If you used toilet paper for the “Guess Mom’s Tummy Size” game, have each guest give a piece of parenting advice for each toilet paper section. Even if guests do not have children, they might have some valuable advice to give. This will create conversation, and (hopefully) the mom-to-be will enjoy hearing the words of wisdom from others.

Baby Shower Game #6:”My Water Broke” Game

This is a game the guests and expecting mom will not forget. Guests will definitely get a chuckle of it. Before the shower, freeze miniature plastic baby items such as mini pacifiers, tiny baby dolls, etc. in ice cubes. (You can find the miniatures at craft stores or at a sites such as this one and this one. ) Offer every guest a drink with the plastic items in the ice. The first guest with ice that has melted completely (so that that miniature item is floating in the water) will shout “My Water Broke!” and is the winner of the game.
