I have stenciled the homemade vanity in my bathroom. It is made of plywood and is painted white. It is a pretty boring looking vanity. I stenciled the outer edge of the side of the vanity with an ivy stencil. I did the same to the front doors of the vanity. I added small roses to the stenciling of the ivy to add the same colors of pink and green to it from the paneling in the bathroom.
I have stenciled fabrics with flowers to create a wall hanging for my daughters bedroom when she was younger. She chose the flower stencil and the color of the flower. I have also stenciled flowers onto flower pots to give the plain terra cot pots some color. This add an extra touch of color to my indoor pots I had.
When I can do things like this, it saves me money and gives me something constructive to do around the house. Not only that, I don’t have to pay retail prices for the same items I can make myself.
Some people may call me cheap, others call me frugal, and others call me creative. I don’t mind when people call me cheap or frugal. Being cheap and frugal saves me money for important things in life like food and bills. With my cheapness and frugality when making my own flowered stenciled projects, I have even been able to buy furniture at retail prices.
On one of the HGTV shows I watched recently, a lady hand stenciled flowers all over her home. The people who bought their house didn’t like it and painted over them. To me this is a bit extreme for using flower stencils, but that is what she liked; so more power to her.
