Free Macrame Animal Patterns

Adult Learning, Flipper, Macrame

The free macrame animal patterns are for adults and kids. Even adults who are beginning to learn this craft can use the kids macrame patterns to practice macrame techniques.

With this list of macrame animal patterns, people can create a variety of animals to hang around their home and in their yards. Even though there are some patterns that are of the same animals, the patterns are different in construction. This will give those making these animals a variety of the same animal.

For instance, there are four owl patterns. Each of the owls are made differently and look different. The owls can be part of a collection for those who collect owls. The same goes for the three frogs listed in the kids pattern section.

Between all the animal patterns listed, a person could create a small zoo. Even the mice patterns listed could be made for the small zoo that won’t need to be watered or fed.

By having the kids make a few of the animal patterns, they can learn about the animal they are making. They can write a report over the animal. They could use the macrame animal they used as a visual aid for their report. If you are a parent who homeschool your children, the making of the animal and the report could be used a twofold class project. They can make the animal for their arts class and write the report for their biology class. Once they have finished both projects, the macrame animals can be used to decorate the area used for homeschooling.

Macrame Animal Patterns for Adults

These macrame animal patterns for adults are a bit harder to make than the ones for kids. However, if you are an adult learning to macrame, the kids macrame animal patterns could help you learn this craft before tackling the adult patterns.

All Natural Owl Pattern

This is the original macrame owl that has been since the 60’s or 70’s.

Princess Owl Pattern

This is another version of the owl pattern mentioned above.

Snow Owl Pattern

The face of the snow owl makes it 2-D rather than flat like the two owls above.

Siamese Cat Pattern

The Siamese cat is 2-D. While the body is flat, the nose, eyes, front eyes, and tail make it 2-D.

Penguin Pattern

The penguin pattern is in 3-D rather than flat like the other macrame animal patterns.

Macrame Animal Patterns for Kids

The following 9 macrame animal patterns are for kids to make. They can learn to make these patterns before moving onto the ones listed above for adults because those are harder patterns to make.

Picot Butterfly

This is a butterfly that is about 2 feet in size. The reason it is so large is because the frame of the butterfly is wire hangers.

Micro Mouse

This is a small mouse that can be made in just a few hours by the kids.

Dragonfly Design

This is the simplest of all the macrame animals for kids.

Far Away Frog

This is an animated style frog. It’s mouth is open while sitting on a log.

Francis Frog

I think this frog would go well with the frog above. The two frogs could make a great way to add decor to a child’s room.

Flipper Frog

The Far Away Frog, Francis Frog, and Flipper Frog can be a fun way to spruce up any garden.

Tiny Turtle

Let the kids make the tiny turtle as a way to create their own pet.

Macrame Mouse

While I am not fond of mice, this is a cute mouse for a kid to make.

Glow Owl

This neon glowing owl is made with nylon cord or other glow in the dark types of twine. This would be a great way for kids to be seen during the dark on outdoor activities.
