Five Must-Play Golf Courses Near Nashville, Tennessee

As a Nashville, TN native, I have played the courses around town all of my life. Here are five of my favorite ones. I tend to play the municipal courses since they run cheaper, and I need to watch my budget. There are great private ones in Nashville that I have not been able to play yet, which you might also enjoy.

Two Rivers Golf Course

East of downtown Nashville, in Donelson, is Two Rivers Golf Course. It offers views of the Cumberland River and the downtown Nashville skyline while playing this gently rolling golf course. It is well maintained and plays easy. My favorite hole would be number eight with the best view of the Nashville skyline.

Weekday green fees are $24 and weekends are $26 for 18 holes.

McCabe Golf Course

McCabe Golf Course is relatively near to downtown Nashville, tucked in a comfy nook in the Sylvan Park area of town just off Murphy Road and 46th Ave North. This is one of the first courses I ever played and it remains a favorite. It features 27 holes and is a driver’s dream. Its fairways are long, flat, and straight. With four holes over 500 yards and four more over 400 yards, I can take driver out of the bag and just let it rip.

Percy Warner Golf Course

This is a really nice 9-hole course with several unusual holes, my favorite of which is one with a 90-degree dogleg in the middle. It is really quite hilly and so walking the course is a good workout but it is worth it to get some of the prettiest fairway views in town.

Weekday green fees are $11 and weekends are $12 for 9 holes.

Country Hills Golf Course

This challenging course has a bit of everything. A generally flat front nine with few trees to a hilly back nine with tall trees lining the fairways. The fairways are narrow and there are times when smacking it as hard as possible off the tee will land you into trouble. On the backside, there is a hole which has a step drop down into a valley before an equally steep climb to the green. It will expose any weaknesses in your game.

Weekday green fees are $33 and weekends are $40 for 18 holes. There are twilight rates going as cheap as $23 during the week and $26 on the weekend. Reasonable practice range prices as well.

Gaylord Springs

This is the premiere golf course open to the public in the Nashville area. It was the former home to a PGA Seniors Tour stop. It is a “at least once in a lifetime play” course which is what I did. It is a bit pricey side since it is privately owned but you get a good quality and challenging golfing experience. It is a place to come a truly test your golfing chops. The hole I most remember is the third hole. It is the shortest on the course so it played to my biggest strength, my short iron play. While short, it still has a challenging approach to the green with bunkers ready to collect wayward tee shots. It stands out to me because I nailed the green on my tee shot and set up short putt birdie.

I have played golf since my childhood when I would play with my dad. Even though I don’t get to play with him much now, I still remember those days whenever I play.
