First Night: New Year’s Celebration in Austin, Texas

Austin, Austin Texas, Downtown Austin

Downtown Austin, Texas comes alive with the yearly Austin First night celebration. Austin is already known as the “live music capital of the world’ and on Austin’s First Night this is no exception to the rule. Every year Austin will setup stages along the streets of downtown Austin, Texas for live shows and performances. Live music is not only brought to you by the City of Austin but also by many street musicians on almost every street corner. Almost all the music acts are local musicians along with some of the best local food that can be found in the area.

Food wise every taste can be filled at the Austin New Years First Night, everything from Tacos to Pizza, Sausage to Alligator, BBQ to Vegetarian. Local food vendors line the streets with their smells and samples all night long. Almost everything you sample at the Austin First Night celebration is available to buy in small quantities or bulk. Austin, Texas has some of the best local grown organic food in all of the United States and I would recommend it to anyone into health eating.

Austin’s First Night always packs the down town area to it’s brim, all of the downtown area is blocked off from traffic and is filled with nothing but thousands of Austin residents, musicians, balloon blowers, fire dancers, fire blowers, food stands and more. Over 6 blocks of the Austin downtown area is effected every year for the Austin First Night festival and the amount of people that show up to the celebration is growing every year. Local Austin residents would be wise to use a bus and/or walk to the the downtown area because parking will be slim for the First Night festival.

Kid’s are in seventh heaven at the First Night celebration with endless sights and sounds for them to behold. Face painting, clowns, balloon blowers, fire dancers, fire blowers, street musicians and performance artist all entertain you and the kids all night long. In years past Austin, Texas has setup an area for rides and games for the kids that visit the Austin First Night celebration. When it comes time to feeding your kids the downtown Austin area has plenty of diversity itself along with all the street vendors that will arrive purely for the First Night celebration.

If you are going to be in the Austin, Texas are this New Years or any years to come I would recommend the Austin First Night celebration to anyone in the area that wants to celebrate New Years with a great Austin Texas feel.
