Everyday Minerals Makeup Review

Everyday Minerals, Mineral Cosmetics, Minerals

In the past 10 years, mineral makeup has literally exploded on the market and Everyday Minerals is one of the fastest growing companies. There are literally dozens of different name brands that make mineral makeup, but the leader of the pack has been Bare Minerals by Bare Essentuals. However, Bare Mineral cosmetics is not so easy on the pocket book and it can be difficult to find a less expensive alternative that’s any good. Everyday Minerals has been gaining a lot of popularity and quietly making headlines, but does this less expensive alternative for mineral makeup really hold up against the leader?

In my quest to check out Everyday Minerals, I went to their site to place an order. The first thing I noticed was how well laid out the site was. Everything was easy to find including an ingredients list. One thing to note is that Everyday Minerals goes one step further than its competitors by not using Bismuth Oxychloride which is known to cause skin irritation for some people using mineral makeup.

Everyday Minerals’ website also contains some fun sections including specials, contests, and a community forum which I found to be very helpful. They’ve recently added a video section as well which was great, because as a mineral newbie I was able to watch others apply makeup. That was a great learning experience.

Another really great aspect of Everyday Minerals, was being able to order a free sample kit. I was charged shipping that ran just over $3.00 and received 3 sample jars of foundation, 1 concealer, and 1 blush. I was surprised to see just how much powder came in those containers and a little goes a long way. At Everyday Minerals, you can also order as many sample kits as you want which is really helpful when trying to decide what your best foundation color is.

When it comes to foundation colors, Everyday Minerals offers far more than all of its competitors. They had 43 different colors to choose from, and according to their site, will be having even more colors soon. As if that isn’t enough, each Everyday Minerals shade comes in it’s own strength. You can choose from Semi-Matte, Matte, Intensive, and Original Glo which is great because some people may prefer more or less coverage on their skin. Frankly, I found ordering these sample kits addictive. There are so many choices that I kept wanting to try more and more.

Everyday Minerals also offers really fun kits that you can customize yourself. I ordered a couple of kits as well as some of their brushes and was very excited to get my package.

Unfortunately, Everyday Minerals is not so good at communicating with their customers. I had paid extra for priority shipping and according to their website, my order had shipped. When my package did not come, I could find no phone number anywhere on their site for me to get in contact with customer service. They were supposed to have a live chat for customers, but that was not up either even though they were scheduled to be online during that time. I had to send in an email and then wait up to 24 hours to get a response.

When I finally did get a response, I was told that some of my items were out of stock. According to Everyday Minerals FAQs, they should email you if any items are out of stock. You are also not supposed to be able to order anything out of stock, but I did without any knowledge that the items would not be in stock. I was also not given any estimate as to when they would ship. When I wrote back to explain my displeasure, it took them more than 24 hours to contact me back. When they did, I was asked why I had ordered my items with priority shipping and given excuses as to their slow response times. I was told I must have not contacted them properly (I did) and that they always follow through with everything. I was told my emails must have bounced (they did not).

At this point, I was more than displeased and let them know that. I was finally given an apology and a $5.00 gift card to use next time, which would make up for the priority shipping I had paid for and not gotten.

When my makeup finally came in, I opened it right away and tried it on. Everyday Mineral’s brushes are incredible! I was completely shocked at how soft these synthetic brushes were. I still find myself going back to touch them. They are really amazing.

I also fell in love with their foundation and other makeup. I need a lot of coverage, so I ordered the Everyday Minerals intensive foundation and the color was just beautiful. It looked like I had airbrushed my face!

In the end, I was very impressed with Everyday Minerals’ products. The makeup is outstanding and actually gave me better coverage than their much more expensive competitors. Their customer service issues need some work and they need better communication with their clients. If they can solve those issues, this company will be around for a long time. Their makeup is beautiful and well worth a try.
