EPT Pregnancy Tests: A Review and Overview

Ept, Pregnancy Tests

The symptoms are there, the anticipation is there, and you’re there, standing in front of an entire shelf of pregnancy tests. You’re thinking to yourself, “Uhhhhhh!” along with a jumble of “Which one,” “What if it’s inaccurate,” “Damn, these are expensive” and a lovely slosh of doubt and confusion.

This is important. Whether you get to have your end-of-the-day wine or not hinges on this test – oh, well, and if you’re going to bring another life into the world. Either way, you’re wishing you read this article about EPT pregnancy tests.

How pregnancy tests work:

Pregnancy tests detect hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) levels in urine. hCG is a hormone created by the body during pregnancy, and is never present otherwise. This is why it is often called the “pregnancy hormone.” hCG level peeks at about 8 weeks pregnant but are present as early as 6 days after conception. The longer you wait the more accurate test results are, however it is possible to test as soon as hCG is present. Taking medicaltions or birth control pills will not effect pregnancy tests, unless of course your medication contains hCG.

EPT pregnancy tests are just that, pretty much error proof tests. They are 99% accurate when directions are followed properly, and easy to use. The EPT brand currently manufacturs three types of EPT tests. Digital EPT tests, Early Response and +/- EPT tests. In my experience the +/- are cheaper and just as easy to read, but for fairness sake I’ll cover both. All EPT pregnancy tests are proven to detect the smallest ammoun of hCG possible. (20 mIU/ml) What level of hCG a tets detects will be posted on the packaging.

+/- pregnancy test:

Instructions:

Simply remove cap, hold tip under urine for 5 seconds and wait around 2 painstaking minutes for a + or – to appear.

Of course, + is for pregnant, and – is for not pregnant. Seems pretty cut and dry to me. The biggest error that is made with the EPT pregnancy test is to take it too early, resulting in inaccurate results.

Average price: $10 for one or 15$ for two found just about everywhere.

Digital pregnancy test:

Instructions:

Again, remove cap place stick under urine stream for around 5 seconds, but this time wait about 3 minutes and a digital unmistakeable “pregnant” or “not pregnant” will appear on the screen. Sometimes however, this brand will show results almost instantly. I’ve used all three types and had results show in about 45 seconds with all three, plus the results take about 24 hours to fade away. So if you do forget to check back (as if your not sitting there staring at the tiny fate determining screen) your results will still be there.

Prices run a little more for the digital version, but are pretty much the same, a dollar or two more at best.

EPT early pregnancy test:

The early version of EPT test can be taken earlier than any other brand of pregnancy test and is still is 99% accurate.[1] This was my favorite. I am sure you can understand impatience when it comes to knowing, yes or no. This version is used just the same as the +/- type but can be used just before your expected-to-be-missed period rather than just after.

Prices tend to be about the same as the digital vesions. 12-17 dollars depending on pack size, and your location.

Some facts about EPT brand in general:

-EPT brand pregnancy tests are among the highest ranked pregnancy tests in the nation because of their reliablility and ease of use, making them worth the one to two dollars more they tend to cost than other brands. Most complaints against pregnancy tests are due to errors made by the consumer by failing to following directions properly. Even if your results are negative it’s a good idea to test again in about a week. This makes two packs wonderful.

-EPT is manufactored by Pfizer. Pfizer has companies worldwide and their main office is located in New York. They are a trusted name in health care products.

-EPT is approved by the FDA, and is the equivilant to the pee-in-a-cup first check most doctors will give you. Taking a home test first cuts medical costs significantly by weeding out the false calls. If your results are positive you should not skip the doctors office of course though, as well as if you get a negative result but are still having many of the first signs of pregnancy. ( I wrote and article about that too, check it out in more by this author)

The winner:

Overall price and product wise I would recommend the +/- version of the EPT brand test. It’s cost effective, and accurate. Though I like the early response version, I feel your more likely to accidentally take that version too early, and it’s pointless to pay the little bit more if you plan on waiting. I learned this after wasting my hard earned dollars on a few early response tests on later to discover I’d tested to early and was pregnant. I also found off brads of the same product more difficult to use, and it was worth the little bit more in this case for the well known brand. It’s way better to be safe than sorry in this case.
