Easy Tips for No Slip Hangers

If you have trouble keeping certain garments on your hangers, here are some tips you can try to keep your clothing off the bottom of the closet floor!

No Slip Hanger Tip #1 – Tape: Rip off two short pieces of scotch tape or electrical tape (any tape will work) and wrap them on each end of the hanger with the sticky side out. Just wrap the piece of tape around the hanger and let the tape stick to itself. When you hang your clothing, the sticky part of the tape will keep your garment from falling off. Yet the little bit of sticky will not harm your clothing. The tape will work for a very long time. If there comes a time that it’s not sticky enough, just replace the tape!

No Slip Hanger Tip #2 – Rubber Bands: Cut a few wide rubber bands and tie a piece at each end of your hanger. Make it so the knot is on the inside of the hanger so the knot will not make a pucker in delicate clothing. The little bit of rubber band makes the hanger slip proof! If one piece of rubber band is not enough, you can tie two or three pieces on each end of the hanger.

No Slip Hanger Tip #3 – Hot Glue: If you have a glue gun, you can run a strip of hot glue along the top of your hanger. Let the glue dry and you will have a no slip hanger!

No Slip Hanger Tip #4 – Fabric: Cut some strips of fabric about 1/2 inch wide then glue the strips of fabric along the top of the hangers. You can glue them on with a hot glue gun or any glue. Use fabrics that are not shiny or slippery. Cotton or corduroy are good choices. Satin would not be a good choice.

No Slip Hanger Tip #5 – Clothes Pins: If you have a very stubborn garment that just insists on falling off a hanger, try placing a snap type clothes hanger on the top of the garment on each side of the hanger. Works like a charm!

No Slip Hanger Tip #6 – Glue Dots: If you want to hang garment with spaghetti straps, you can take a hot glue gun and make a dot or blob of glue on each side of the hanger. Then hang the spaghetti straps on the inside of the dots. The straps will not be able to slide past the raised dot of glue and will stay put!
