Easy Hair Style – Beach Waves with No Heat (or Beach)

Beach Waves, Bobby Pins

Beach waves hair style makes hair look like you just got back from the beach (even when no beach is around) and a day of fun in the sun. Easy to create and a go-anywhere style, here’s how to give your hair beach waves with no heat.

Wash and Prep

Wash hair with a curl enhancing shampoo then rinse with cool water. Apply your favorite conditioner and rinse again with cool water. Detangle hair by using a wide tooth and remove excess moisture from hair by patting it with a towel. Never rub hair briskly to dry, it will cause frizz. Apply a quarter size dollop of volumizing mousse to hair roots and work it in towards the ends of hair. Comb once again with a wide tooth comb.

Hair Divide

Divide hair by parting into two equal sections, running the part from the front center of your forehead to the center of the neck back. Starting behind the ears, braid each section of hair into a loose braid and secure the ends with an elastic band. The braid needs to be loose enough to allow air circulation, but not so loose that hair dries straight.

If hair is very thick or coarse, pull hair up into one tight ponytail on the top of your head, then braid hair loosely. Wrap braid into a loose bun and secure ends by tucking under bun, use bobby pins if needed.

Let Dry

Let hair dry for about an hour, a little longer for thick hair. Gently undo braids (hair will still be slightly damp) with finger, touching hair as little as possible to avoid frizz. As the strands finish drying (no blow dryer) naturally they will expand into fuller curls.

To finish the beach curl look, when hair has completely dried, flip head over and gently tousle hair with fingers (touch hair as little as possible to avoid frizz). Mist under side of hair with a shine spray, flip head upright and lightly mist top side of waves with shine spray.

Styling Ideas

Beach waves can go from day to evening wear as-is, or the hair style can be glammed up by pulling it to one side on a loose pony tail. Pile the waves on top of head and secure with a few bobby pins, leave a few wavy tendrils hanging down to create a casual updo.
