Makeup Tricks to Slim a Round Face

Bronzing Powder, Round Face

My face has always been very round and full with almost non existent cheekbones. I always craved a more well defined bone structure to my facial features. Over the years I have picked up a few cosmetic tricks to minimize the fullness of my cheeks and give my face a more well balanced look. Here are some easy makeup tips and techniques that you can also use to give your face a slimmer appearance for special occasions or any day of the year.

Use Makeup to Make Your Eyes Look Bigger. Bigger and more dramatic eyes take the focus off the perimeter of the face and redirect attention to that area. Keeping eyebrows neat and well groomed will instantly add a bit of depth and appeal to the eye area. Choose eye shadow wisely. A bit of shimmer and sparkle will make that portion of the face stand out above the rest. Take a chance with false eyelashes. Individual lashes applied to the corners of the eyes will visually extend the width, making them really stand out. Go bold with a cat eyeliner look. The more dramatic and glam the eye area, the less out of balance the rest of the face will appear. The more time I spend on my eye makeup, the less noticeable the fullness of my face is.

Use Bronzing Powder Wisely. Bronzing powders are great makeup tools for gals with full faces. They give a nice glow during the summer, but also go a long way towards creating a slimmer and more well defined facial structure. Use a large brush to apply a contour to your neck and jawline with a warm bronzing color. Be sure to sweep the bottom of your chin as well. Use a light hand so as not to create a stark difference between your skin tones. The little bit of color on these strategic areas will visually lengthen the neck and jawline, instantly making your face appear slimmer and longer. I definitely notice a big difference in photographs when I use even the smallest bit of bronzing powder in these areas.

Plump Up Your Lips. When lips look larger and have a well defined pout, the face looks larger in comparison. Line your lips with an attractive lip liner pencil and fill in with a corresponding lipstick color. Add a layer of shine with a quality gloss. Take care to reapply product during the day or evening to maintain your polished look.

Highlight the Center of Your Face. A bit of illumination down the center of your face will give the illusion of a narrower and more evenly balanced facial structure. Sweep a bit of loose shimmery powder down the forehead and the bridge of the nose. The combination of the light particles down the center of the face and the darkness along the chin and jawbone will create a stunning silhouette.

Choose a Flattering Hairstyle. A bit of teasing at the crown of hair elongates the face. This style works well with a headband, a high ponytail or a formal up do. Parting the hair down the middle also adds balance to a full face, as it allows a bit more forehead to peek out.

A few extra minutes in front of the makeup mirror can make all the difference in the appearance of a very full and round face. Enhancing your natural face shape with one or all these tips can easily lead to a happier and more self confident you.
