Easy Baby Shower Decorations

Baby Shower Decorations, New Mommy, Parasols, Umbrellas

Baby showers are parties where families and friends bestow gifts on expectant parents. In addition to the menu and some silly games, you will need to plan your decorations. Decorations for these parties don’t have to be expensive or complicated. Keep your prep work simple by using easy baby shower decorations.

Umbrella Theme

Umbrellas have been a favorite motif for baby showers for decades. For easy table decorations, you will need several umbrellas or parasols with hook-shaped handles. Pop open the umbrellas and set them upside down with the handles sticking up. Place them around the room, such as on the gift, cake or food tables. Stack diapers, baby bottles, bibs, rattles and other small baby gifts inside the umbrellas. Tie pretty, pastel ribbons to the handles of the umbrellas. Choose a blue for a baby boy or pink for a little girl, if the baby’s sex is known; otherwise, use a variety of pastel colors. These decorations offer the added treat of the new parents’ getting to take home the items inside the umbrellas. Also hang some umbrellas from the ceiling with fishing line. Avoid placing them near ceiling fans and hot lights. Use varying lengths of string for a magical baby shower look.

Diaper Cake

Make a diaper cake for an easy decorative touch; this will also be something that the new mom can take home after the party. You’ll need a medium to large round platter. You can buy an inexpensive pink, blue or even silver one at a party-supply store. Use infant-sized diapers to make the diaper cake. Start by positioning the diapers around the outer edge of the platter in a circle. Have all the bottoms facing outward and the openings facing inward. Stack a second row on top of the first and continue until the diaper cake is as high as you’d like it. Secure the cake by setting the platter on top of a wide panel of tulle in any color you like. Pull the tulle up and tie it into a bow atop the diaper cake. You might have to trim the bow a bit to make it fluffy.

Mint Tree

To make a mint tree you will first need to buy a metal tree from a party-supply store. You’ll find they come in varying sizes, ranging from 2 to 3 feet tall, and various colors. Fill 6-inch tulle rounds with pastel party mints. You can buy tulle rounds already cut and ready to use, which will make this an easy project. After you fill the rounds with mints, tie the rounds closed with a length of ½-inch-wide ribbon in a color that matches your tulle. Hang the mint bags from the branches of the tree. Place your mint tree in the center of your table. This will be an easy but pretty decoration for the new mommy to look at.
