Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas

Donuts, Dunkin, Dunkin Donuts

With air temperatures in the 90’s and the humidity level very high in the Hartford, Connecticut area recently, I have noticed many people drinking Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas. Yesterday afternoon, I decided to purchase a small – sized Watermelon Coolatta from a local Dunkin’ Donuts shop and I’m very glad that I did. This frozen drink was so cool and refreshing that it re – invigorated me and helped me to deal effectively with the oppressive heat and humidity.

I am so impressed with the Coolatta that I drank yesterday, that I have decided to write an article which reviews and examines the entire line of Coolattas. Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is one food writer’s product review of Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas.

Sizes
Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas are available in three sizes ; small, medium and large. Personally, I think that all three sizes are large. The small Coolattas contain 16 ounces of frozen beverages, the medium – sized Coolattas are 24 ounces each and the large Coolattas contain 32 ounces of frozen refreshment. The small Watermelon Coolatta that I consumed yesterday was far more refreshing and cooling than any other type of beverage I could have consumed and it also lasted for a long time.

Prices
While Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas are not outrageously expensive, I don’t think they are inexpensive, either. The regular price for small Coolattas at Hartford, Connecticut area Dunkin’ Donuts shops is approximately $2.65, medium Coolattas sell for roughly $3.70 and the regular price charged for large Coolattas at these shops is approximately $4.75.

Consistency / Texture
The consistency of Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas is one of the factors that makes drinking them so enjjoyable. These delightful beverages are very similar to frozen Slush – type drinks, but I think that their consistency is a little bit finer, making them easier and more enjoyable to drink. I don’t know if the consistency has anything to do with it, but I do not receive “Brain Freezes” from Coolattas, like I do with frozen Slush – type drinks that are available at convenience stores everywhere.

Nutritional Facts
In the interest of being concise, I have picked several sizes and flavors of Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas at random and have decided to list only the calorie count for those items. The small Watermelon Coolatta contains 250 calories, the small Tropicana Orange Coolatta contains 220 calories, the medium Blue Raspberry Coolatta contains 400 calories, the medium Vanilla Bean Coolatta contains 650 calories, the large Strawberry Fruit Coolatta contains 590 calories and the large Coffee with Cream Coolatta contains 800 calories.

Varieties
Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas are available in several tasty flavors. They are Blue Raspberry, Coffee, Watermelon, Vanilla Bean, Tropicana Orange and Strawberry. Many people like to combine some of the Coolatta varieties, creating their own special flavors.

Taste / Flavor
These frozen drinks are very tasty and loaded with more flavor than most slushes. Through the years, I have tried at least four of the flavors and have liked every one I’ve tried. My personal favorites are the watermelon, vanilla bean and coffee varieties. Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas are true thirst – quenchers and they do not leave behind any type of aftertaste. These drinks don’t fool around. When it’s really hot and humid outside, or you’re working hard at something and you need a break, these delicious frozen concoctions really hit the spot.

Last week, I received a promotional circular from Dunkin’ Donuts in the regular mail. The circular showed illustrations of various Coolattas, which were unusual flavor combinations. The circular urged customers to create their own flavors, by combining various Coolatta varieties together. I would like to try Blue Raspberry with Orange, Coffee and Vanilla Bean and Watermelon with Strawberry.

Packaging
Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas are served in tall plastic cups that are pretty sturdy. I have had Coolattas that have come with two different types of lids. One type is a big, bubble – like lid with a hole for a straw in the middle and the other is a regular – style, flat plastic lid. I like the bubble – like lid better, because I once dropped a Dunkin’ Donuts Coolatta that I was drinking and the large lid stayed intact and almost none of the Coolatta was lost.

Overall Rating
Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas are very tasty frozen beverages that are available in several flavors and sizes. These drinks are excellent thirst – quenchers and they do not feature aftertastes. Although I think their prices are just a little bit high, Dunkin’ Donuts Coolattas are recommended items by this food writer.
