Downtown Naperville restaurants offer an interesting and varied choice of venue for potential consumers. Located about 30 miles southwest of downtown Chicago, Naperville, Illinois is a center of dining and shopping of the Chicago suburbs. There are many downtown Naperville restaurants to choose from. A brief review of my favorite downtown Naperville restaurants is covered below.
Downtown Naperville Restaurant #1: BlackFinn American Saloon
BlackFinn is a classic American saloon at its finest, and ranks as my favorite downtown Naperville restaurant. Offering contemporary American cuisine, BlackFinn features a chill bar, well appointed dining room decorated with wood and leather trim, and a rooftop bar. The atmosphere at BlackFinn tends to be relaxed and congenial.
Menu items at this downtown Naperville restaurant range from burgers and steaks to pasta and chicken. Reasonably priced, entrees run around $15; though the filet mignon will run a customer $25. With such a varied menu, excellent quality food, relaxed atmosphere, and appropriate price points BlackFinn is my favorite downtown Naperville restaurant.

Downtown Naperville Restaurant #2: Hugo’s Frog Bar and Fish House
Not as stuffy as its downtown Chicago cousin, Hugo’s Frog Bar is a well established downtown Naperville restaurant. White linens, ample lighting and plenty of window space give Hugo’s an open airy feeling. A comfortable atmosphere allows for a unique, sophisticated formal dining experience in downtown Naperville.
Open for lunch and dinner, Hugo’s Frog Bar offers some of the best seafood in all of Chicagoland. Nightly live entertainment combines with enthusiastic crowds allowing an energetic feeling to permeate the establishment. Prices are a bit on the high side, though the atmosphere and quality of food justify a higher price point.
Appetizers will run a diner about $10 – $13, while seafood entrees go for $20 – $25. Lobster, crab and steaks will run at a premium to these prices; with most steaks $30 – $40.
For a relaxed yet classy seafood meal, Hugo’s Frog Bar is my downtown Naperville restaurant of choice.

Downtown Naperville Restaurant #3: Catch 35
Catch 35 is likely the best downtown Naperville restaurant specializing in seafood. The range of seafood selection is deep and interesting with enough variety to satisfy all diners. The Catch 35 menu features an “Asian Flair” section full of interesting flavors and an oceanic take on the traditional Chinese fare.
Appetizers at Catch 35 run from $9 – $12. Seafood entrees run around $20, though crab and lobster will cost significantly more. Steaks available at Catch 35 run around $35.

Downtown Naperville Restaurant #3: Sullivan’s Steakhouse
Sullivan’s is a 1940’s style steakhouse featuring excellent quality steaks and seafood. This downtown Naperville restaurant is my favorite steakhouse because of the exceptional quality and live entertainment. Although a chain of 19 restaurants running from Alaska to Delaware, Sullivan’s has become an icon of quality American steakhouses.
Sullivan’s offers nightly jazz live entertainment, significantly enhancing the dining experience. The extensive menu features certified angus beef, select seafood, veal, pork, lamb and chicken entrees, appetizers, soups, salads and side dishes (including Sullivan’s renowned horseradish mashed potatoes).
As with most fine steakhouses, dinner at this downtown Naperville restaurant will not be cheap. Steaks can run to around $40, and an extensive wine list can significantly add to the bill. That being said, the food is of exceptional quality, the entertainment engaging and enjoyable, and the atmosphere exudes sophistication. For a fine dining experience, Sullivan’s is my favorite downtown Naperville restaurant.
