Does the AB LOUNGE Work?

The best way to reduce fat in the abdominal area is to build stomach muscle. The bigger the muscle the more fat it will eat in order to have enough energy to keep it going. The energy muscle uses isn’t exclusive to exercise, but is needed for energy throughout waking hours. Muscles continue burning energy when the body sleeps, but not as much. So…the more muscle a body has the more energy it requires when at rest.

If there’s not enough fat to furnish energy then feeling run down, tired or in the slumps will occur. When muscle shrinks from lack of exercise, sickness or other reason, a person’s energy level can go up because there’s enough fatty fuel. Too much fat can make one feel drained and exhausted because there’s not enough muscle to support the body. Fat is heavy after all.

Exercise involved in toning, flattening, and building stomach muscle usually comes in the form of a sit-up or crunch. This is achieved by lying on the back in the floor, knees bent, and raising the upper half of the body to meet the knees or halfway to the meeting point of the knees. This type of exercise is rough on the back and neck. The results are long coming if there’s any and back pain, headaches or both may be the only crowning glory felt.

That’s why exercise gadgets or machines are invented to help make fitness less painful and results more visible in a shorter amount of time. The Ab Lounge is one such creation. There is an older version of the Ab Lounge called the Ab Lounge Sport and an updated newer version called the Ab Lounge XL. The only major difference between the two is that you cannot fold the Ab Lounge Sport up for storage, but you can do this with the Ab Lounge XL. I own the AB Lounge Sport, but wish I had the XL. When I bought it I had no idea how big it was. It takes up a large chunk of space, and I’m not able to fold it up and put it away.

Either AB Lounge will require assembly. At times it was confusing to put it together even though the pieces were numbered with sticky paper circles that can be left on or removed later. I would give the instructions a B seeing they could have been made easier to understand.

The AB Lounge resembles a chair with merged metal legs in the front and back. The part that gets sat on is made of a canvas material. Two metal arms sit at each side of the canvas so you can hold on or rest your arms. There is a strap at the top of the chair that is meant to hold on to when exercising or slipping the arms straight through for a more intense workout.

Pulling the top of the chair towards the feet and then returning to the starting point or further back is pretty much the basis of the AB Lounge. It’s doing a sit-up or crunch with more of a stretching movement. The duration of doing crunches or sit-ups can be achieved for longer periods by using the AB Lounge over floor exercise. Back and neck pain is eliminated while exercising, but dizziness can be experienced when working out. The AB Lounge tightens abs in less time then it would take without it, but it will take time before benefits are seen.
