Does P90X Really Work?

Muscle Confusion, P90x, P90x Workout, Pullups

I have one more workout left until I will have completed week seven of P90X. I struggled with my weight my entire life, and have lost over fifty pounds on several different occasions. When I first started seeing the infomercials my question was “Does P90X really work?” I mean it’s obvious that it works, but does it REALLY WORK better than other plans that are out there. I truly believe that any excercise or diet program will work if you follow the consistency principle. You can read my story of consistency and weight loss here. That being said, it is certain that some programs are better than others. I have had success with several different things over the years, but after seven weeks I am sure that P90X takes the cake.

DOES P90X WORK -THE SCIENCE BEHIND P90X
The science behind P90X is based around muscle confusion. Every day that you perform your P90X workouts you will work your body in a different direction or style and you never get a chance to get used to the strain. Every four week cycle of P90X will bring even more change as you swap out your upper body workouts with new ones. So basically what I’m saying is that you will not have a chance to get used to the P90X workouts in the ninety day time frame. You will do resistance workouts with P90X three days a week and cardio twice. The sixth day of your P90X weekly workouts will bring flexibility training with YogaX. The idea of muscle confusion is not new, but I have never seen it designed better then with the P90X system.

DOES P90X WORK -WHAT P90X DOES TO YOUR BODY
You will notice after the first few P90X workouts that you are sore in places that you shouldn’t be. The first P90X workout is for your chest and back, but you will be sore in your wrists, forearms, neck, legs, and core also. We have all become used to training our muscles in a supported format such as using benches and machines. With P90X there is no support, so you have to use the supporting muscles that I just mentioned to work the target areas. So the outcome is that you are working everything with P90X really. It seems weird at first, but after a few weeks of doing P90X you will see improvements in how your body works together as one unit. You won’t be that guy or girl that has huge biceps but can’t do any chinups because your forearms are week. This unsupported training method is one of the big reasons behind the success of P90X.

DOES P90X WORK -P90X IS NOT EASY, BUT IT WORKS
The P90X workouts are hard, so don’t expect otherwise. You will be soaked with sweat and completely worn out by the end of each P90X DVD. Over time you will notice that your body performs better in each session of P90X so you do more with less rest breaks. Just do not give up. Do what you can at the beginning and don’t worry about it. If you cannot do pullups when you first start P90X then use a chair to help. If you cannot do pushups when you first start P90X then get on your knees and do them. Whatever you have to do to keep moving throughout the P90X workout is what you must do to see success.
