Diaper Baskets: Useful & Unique Baby Shower Gifts

Baby Diaper, Inexpensive Diaper Bags, Infant Toys, Unique Baby Shower Gifts

Everybody wants to give the mommy-to-be in their life the best gift possible for her baby shower. But the “best gift possible” is not always the most personal or practical. And spending a lot of money is not always the best way to go either. That is why I have found a baby diaper basket to be not only affordable, practical and personal…..but also extremely appreciated by new moms for months after the baby is born!

Making a baby diaper basket is really quite simple. All you have to do is choose a pretty basket from a local arts & crafts store and decorate it with a ribbon of your choice. If you know the gender of the baby-to-be, you can choose to buy a blue ribbon for a boy, pink for a girl, or yellow and sage green for babies whose parents have decided to keep the gender a surprise. You can also find baskets that are painted in these colors already as well.

Next you want to line the basket with tissue paper and start adding the goodies. The first layer you want to place in the basket is a layer of diapers. Place these in a circle around the inside of the basket and keep filling it in until you only have a small opening left in the middle of the basket. In the little opening that you have left, you can add such changing table goodies as tubes of Desitin, Vaseline, Q-tips, a container of baby wipes, burp clothes, baby nail clippers, baby powder and lotion, and a few mini washcloths. After this is done you can wrap the entire basket in cellophane paper or just leave it as is, add your card, and your baby shower gift is ready!

Thsi gift option can also be used for mothers-to-be who are opting to use cloth diapers. Simply replace teh disposable diapers with cloth ones and you may also want to add a few disposable diaper liners which are easy to hand make or find on-line.

Often times, when new parents are out shopping for cribs, nursery bedding, layettes and toys, the most practical necessitites tend to get forgotten. So a gift like the baby diaper gift basket can oftenimes be a lifesaver! As a matter of fact, one of the baby showers that was thrown for me when I was pregnant with my son was a Diaper Shower. All I got were boxes of diapers, wipes and other diapering needs and I couldn’t have been happier or more grateful. Before you have a child of your own, you cannot possibly imagine how many diapers such a tiny human being can go through in one day!

So consider giving a gift like the diaper basket at your next baby shower. It will have your personal touch to it and be far more useful than yet another package of receiving blankets or infant toys.
