Design a Disney Princess Bedroom Theme

Walt Disney has been igniting children’s imaginations for decades. Several generations of girls have loved Disney princesses. Does your little princess long for her own enchanted kingdom like Sleeping Beauty or Cinderella? You can make her dreams come true with this step-by-step DIY bedroom theme designer. Use these simple decor, bedding, furniture, wall art, accessories tips to make magic.

DISNEY PRINCESS WALL DECOR

–Choose good quality washable satin or semi-gloss latex paint. Many paint manufacturer’s market special kids’ room paint. Purchase three gallons, tinted like this: one gallon divided into four pints (16 oz. each) in plain white, yellow, bright green, and pink. Tint the remaining two gallons tinted light blue.

–Paint walls blue. Allow paint to cure for several days.

–Using white, paint clouds on the blue.

-Design a basic outdoor meadow scene with sun, grass, trees, flowers. Mix a little of each color to get shades of brown.

–Purchase removable Disney princess wall stickers. These should include characters and animals. With removable stickers your child can play interactively, recreating her own scenes and repositioning to act out stories.

–On the door write in metallic gold marker, ‘Princess ______’s Royal Chambers’. You can copy a Disney font style if you wish.

DISNEY PRINCESS FURNITURE:

–Disney bed: Choose a loft style bed with space underneath. Several bed manufacturers make a castle loft bed with a draped canvas play tent instead of a bottom bunk. –Disney castle floor cover: Select an interactive play rug printed with a castle floor plan. Or take a pink rug and tape off a floor plan. Place rug in tent. Your child can set up her Disney princess accessories on the rug and keep them there at night.

–Her Majesty’s royal stuff storage: Remind her that princesses must keep their things neat and the area under the loft bed is perfect for storage. Purchase a storage shelf with nine open bins in pastel Disney princess colors. These shelves are available at Wal-Mart. Or make your own placing open bins on a shelf. Label each puppets, blocks, dolls, etc.

–DIY Disney princess bookshelf: Paint a shelf gold to resemble royal furniture. Sprinkle with glitter while still wet. Hot glue fake gems on when dry. Dollar General sells Disney princesses bed pillows. Place pillows in her tent. She can enjoy her Disney princess books in privacy.

–HRH’s art table: Place plastic tablecloth or shower curtain on the floor to protect the carpet. Keep art supplies in a basket on the table. Set out feathers, gems, glitter, fabric and ribbon for Her Royal Highness to create Disney princess works of art. Put up a bulletin board for her to display her art.

–Disney Princess vanity/dresser: Your little regent needs a vanity table and chair. She can keep clothing in the drawers and accessories, jewelry and play makeup on top.

–DIY princess dress-up clothing rack. Buy any inexpensive clothes rack. Spray paint it gold. Hot glue faux gems it. Hang princess dress-up clothes, crown, jewels, wand on the rack. Tell her fancy clothes stay nice if they are hung up.

DISNEY PRINCESS LINENS:

–Curtains. Cover windows with sheer pink curtains that drape and are easy to open and close. Create Disney Princess curtains gluing on faux gems, ribbon and silk flowers. Sew on dangly beads.

–Canopy: Purchase a tulle canopy. Mount this over the bed.

–Disney Princess bedding: Disney princess theme bedding is available most places including discount stores. Select a sheet set with at least 180 count thread. Purchase Disney princess polar fleece from fabric stores. Hem the edge to make your own blankets.

DIY DISNEY PRINCESS LIGHTING

Design a Disney Princess lamp. Stick Disney princess stickers on a plain white shade. Decorate shade with gems. Hang purple, pink or white holiday lights along the edge of the ceiling. This will create an enchanted atmosphere.
