Denny’s Restaurant in Hagerstown, MD: One of Few 24 Hour Options in Hagerstown

Hagerstown, Hagerstown Md, Hashbrowns

Denny’s Restaurant in Hagerstown, MD is one of few restaurants that are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is a benefit you can’t ignore, if you are the type who eats on an abnormal schedule or you’re usually hungry after checking out the local Hagerstown scene. The restaurant is also affordable, as well as being flexible in its menu selection.

Denny’s Restaurant is located on the Dual Highway in Hagerstown, MD. You can find it from the highway very easily. From I-70, take Route 40 West. Go about a mile and you’ll see it on the right, at the first stop light. If you are coming from Interstate 81, then get on 70 East, and then take Route 40 West, as previously stated.

The Restaurant is spacious and has seating for about 150-200 people. The restaurant is most crowded on Friday and Saturday nights from the times the bar closes, and you may have to wait to be seated. Dinner time is also generally busy, especially on weekeknds.

The menu is a fair value, although it doesn’t seem to be as good of a bargain as it once was. You can easily spend $30 to $40 for two people for a normal meal, compared to about $50 to go somewhere more upscale. A steak will cost you about as much as it does anywhere else, maybe $5 less.

The bargain comes more with the breakfast items or specials the restaurant runs. You can get a hearty, hearty breakfast and juice and coffee for about ten dollars not including the tip, if you choose a popular favorite like the grand slam.

The menu is diverse. You can get breakfast, lunch or dinner items any time. Although the after hours menu isn’t as large as the regular menu, there are still many selections. Try an oreo cookie milkshake, the best thing they have. I also enjoy the salads, the beef vegetable soup, the country fried steak, the tbone steak, and the hashbrowns.

The best feature of Denny’s is the hours. Oftentimes I find myself missing the hours most restaurants are open, just because of working late or not getting to go out until late. It’s unbelievable how early some restaurants close! Rocco’s Italian Restaurant and the Fireside, two of my favorites, close at 9 most nights or earlier! The Outback Steakhouse stays open until about 11 pm on weekends, which is the best other alternative for late night that isn’t open all night. For all night, you’ll have to choose Denny’s or the Waffle House. There is a small restaurant in the West End that may still be open 24 hours a day.

Aside from the hours, you will also find many people you know. If you were at a local establishment until 1 am, chances are at least 10% of those people will continue on eating at Denny’s. Also, many bartenders from local bars will go here to dine when they get off work.

Overall, Denny’s is worth visiting, especially in the wee hours of the morning. The prices aren’t too unreasonable, you’ll find people you know, and the menu is diverse.
