Baby showers are fun occasions, and a twin baby shower is double the fun! Here are some ideas for planning a twin baby shower…theme ideas, game ideas, and other ideas that can be used.
Two Peas in a Pod Theme-This is a fairly common theme for twin showers. It’s great for a shower where the gender of the twins isn’t known, or for boy/girl twins.
Cherry Theme- A double cherry theme (two cherries on the same stalk) is great for twin girls.
Perfect Pair Theme- A pair of pears represents the two babies.
Naming Game- You will need 26 small pieces of paper, with a letter of the alphabet on each piece. (Do this twice if you have more than 13 guests.) Fold them and put them in a bucket or other container. Pass out a piece of paper and pencil to each guest, and have them pick two letters from the container. Then they have to think of as many twin names as they can within a certain time limit. The two names have to correspond to the two letters they picked, and if the babies’ gender is known, the names have to be in the babies’ genders. Another version of this game can be that they have to think of rhyming names that begin with their two letters. (They can be made up names.) The person with the most names on their list wins!
Double Trouble Game- For this game you will need two baby dolls, two small diapers (newborn size diapers or doll diapers), a stopwatch and a prize for the winner. Keep one doll dressed in its regular clothes and have the other doll wearing just a diaper. Baby shower guests have to change the diapered baby (take off diaper, fold it, and put on a new one) all while rocking the other doll in one arm. Time each player and the player who finishes in the shortest amount of time wins!
Don’t Say Twins Game- You’ll need two bracelets, pins, or rubber bands for each guest and a prize for the winner. At the beginning of the shower, pass out the two items to each person. Tell everyone that no one can say the words twin, double, two, boy, girl, and/ or baby. You can also add some of your own words to the list. If anyone says any of these words, the first one to catch them gets one of their bracelets, pins, or rubber bands. This continues on till the end of the shower. The person with the most bracelets, pins, or rubber bands on gets the prize!
Other Ideas
Meal idea- For dinner (or lunch, or whatever meal you’re serving at the shower) have two of everything. For example, lunch could include two sandwiches, Dinner could include a plate of steamed vegetables, two of each. If you’re just serving snacks, include two types of everything…two types of chips, two types of dip, etc.
Gift idea- If you’re looking for a nice gift idea for a soon-to-be mom of twins, consider making a gift basket with double of everything in it. Include things that parents will need two of: two pacifiers, two rattles, two little outfits, two pairs of booties, and any other ideas you can think of.
Decoration idea- Have two diaper cakes as centerpieces, both pink, both blue, or one blue and one pink.
