Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn

For the first time in over a decade, Conway Twitty’s album A Twismas Story will be available for purchase on CD and digital format this holiday season beginning today, October 30, 2007.

Conway Twitty’s 1983 album Merry Twismas, has been remixed and re-titled A Twismas Story and is ready for re-release on CD today, October 30th.

Conway Twitty is a well-known country singer who began his music career in rock-n-roll. He made an entry into the country music world in 1968 with his first number 1 country song, “Next in Line.

Conway Twitty had numerous number 1 hits during his career as a country singer. In fact, he had over 50 songs hit number 1 on the country music charts, making him country music history’s artist with the most hits landing at number 1 on the charts.

Some of Conway Twitty’s number one hits have included: “Hello Darlin” in 1970, “How Much More Can She Stand,” in 1971, “You’ve Never Been This Far Before,” in 1973, and, the 1975 hit, “Linda on My Mind.”

Twitty also sang several duets with Loretta Lynn, which landed at number 1 on the country music charts as well including: “After the Fire is Gone,” in 1971, “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” in 1973, and the hit, “Feelin’s” in 1975.

Conway Twitty won four Country Music Awards with Loretta Lynn for their songs. He was also inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in the year 1999.

Though Conway Twitty passed away suddenly due to a stomach aneurysm after a show in Branson Missouri, artists have continued to remember Twitty by recording with him and by remaking some of his songs.

Modern technology allowed one country music artist, Anita Cochran, to record a Christmas song, “(I Wanna Hear) A Christmas Song” with Twitty joining her at the end of the selection. Technology allowed her to splice words, notes, and phrases from Twitty’s albums he recorded before he died to be incorporated into her Christmas song, making it sound as if Conway Twitty actually recorded with her.

Technology also allowed Twitty’s granddaughter, Christi Prater to act as the new Twitty Bird on the remixed Christmas album available this holiday season.

A Twismas Story includes remixed songs from Twitty’s 1983 album Merry Twismas including classics such as “Jingle Bells,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Silver Bells,” and, “White Christmas.” The new Christmas album also includes newer Christmas songs such as, “Christmas is for the Birds,” “Happy the Christmas Clown,” “Ding-a-Ling the Christmas Bell,” and, “Johnny Snowman.”

A Twismas Story is now available for purchase on CD and will remain available throughout 2007’s holiday season.
