Collecting Golf Hat Clip and Ball Markers

Markers

Golf hat clips and ball markers are one of the greatest time savers ever developed for the game of golf. If you’ve ever watched golfers fumble through their pockets for a coin or a ball marker while on the green, you’ll understand. I’ve searched one pocket for ball markers, through the tees, car keys, extra balls and other assorted essentials only to give up and try another pocket.

You may have played golf with one of those guys who searches through his pockets on every green for a ball marker while the other golfers stare with impatience, the players on the tee box behind lean on their clubs, someone offers him a coin, but he insists he has a ball marker somewhere and is intent on finding it. It is frustrating to everyone and adds a lot of time to the game.

Magnetic golf hat clips and ball markers come to the rescue. The magnetic ball marker can’t be any easier to get to. It just sits on the brim of your hat, you reach up and easily slip the ball marker from your hat, no fumbling, no wasted time.

Not only are the magnetic ball markers handy, they look good. They can be the size of a quarter or closer to the size of a nickel. There are many different designs available.

When I discovered the magnetic hat clip and ball markers, I was fascinated. The ball marker quickly went from handy tool to an obsession. I started collecting magnetic ball markers from each course I play. I bought my first magnetic ball marker at The Moors, a Scottish style course in Pensacola, Florida that I played while on vacation. When I returned home from vacation I ran into a neighbor with a St. Louis Cardinal ball marker on his hat. That’s when it really struck me that ball markers would be fun to collect.

Magnetic ball markers come in several styles. You can get a magnetic ball marker that is die struck, die struck and color filled, printed, or silk screened. On the die struck magnetic ball marker the logo is represented in raised and recessed metal. The die struck and color filled magnetic ball marker has the logo in raised metal with areas of color outlined by metal walls. The photo or printed magnetic ball marker is printed in full color on a white background and then is covered with an epoxy dome to seal it in place and protect it. The silk screened magnetic ball marker is printed in one color over a metal background finish.

Rather than collect all magnetic ball markers, I try to make it meaningful by choosing magnetic ball markers that are meaningful in some way to me. I collect magnetic ball markers from each golf course I play, for each sports team whose stadium I have attended or I am truly a fan, and I collect some magnetic ball markers just because I love the design.

It is easy to make a display for your magnetic ball markers. I just used a piece of colored poster board and glued flexible black magnet stock to the back of it. You can find the magnet stock in office supply stores. I then put the board in a frame which I have hanging above my desk. I easily just attach my magnetic ball markers to board. It looks great and is easy to do.
