When a golfer goes to the store, the first thing that he or she looks at is usually golf clubs, gloves, shoes, or even attire, but rarely does a person spend any time finding the right tees. Even I fall victim to searching for the tees that have the most in the bag with the least expensive price tag. This complete disregard for the item that you actually hit the ball off of is nonsensical. By placing a little more stock in your selection of tees, you may find that your scores will lower, and your rounds will become a bit more enjoyable. The following tees can all be found on Amazon.com and are my personal favorites. Whether you are just beginning the game, or if you are on your way to the PGA Tour, this list will provide you with a tee that you will love.
1.) X-Tee Driver: This new generation of tees may be a bit uncomfortable at first, but with a bit of practice, they will undoubtedly find their way into your golf bag whenever you decide to take a trip to the course. What makes these tees so special is that the ball is placed on bristles, as opposed to the conventional inverted wooden or plastic top. The bristles will also allow for the tee to be reused numerous times, as opposed to the wooden tees that break with the slightest nick of the golf club. For a pack of three at Amazon.com, the price is $6.99. This price may seem steep, but remember that these three tees will last you longer than a normal pack of thirty wooden ones. While the above description should be enough to get you running to the store to purchase them, I still have not gotten to the best part. Each tee is a ball mark repair, ball marker, and tee all in one. If this bristled tee doesn’t tickle your fancy, throw your clubs in the basement, and get ready to enjoy those Sunday afternoons with your wife.
2.) Zero Friction Performance Golf Tees: These golf tees claim to provide a reduced friction, which will decrease the resistance when teeing off. This tee will help to control the spin and trajectory, and in turn, will help you to land your shots an average of seven yards closer to your target when compared to the average wooden tee. The tees are 3 ¼” long. The only downfall that I can see with these tees is the price. At Amazon.com, the cost is $6.95 for a bag of thirty-five tees, so if you are a beginning golfer, you may not want to invest in these just yet. As your game improves, and you have become comfortable and confident, these tees should be your top choice.
3.) Unbreakable Golf Tees: The third best golf tee on the market is simply titled “Unbreakable Golf Tee.” The name speaks for itself, as these tees claim to be unbreakable. My issue is, if the tees are unbreakable, then why do they come in a ten pack? Shouldn’t they be sold individually? Anyways, these are 2 7/8″ and are sold for $6.99 for a pack of ten at Amazon.com. They are made of simulated wood, made in Germany, and are currently used on the PGA Euro Pro Tour. The tees are also approved by Golf Test USA, Golf Digest, Golf World, Today’s Golfer, and Golfer’s Magazine. With this many backers, how can this tee not be worth a trial run?
4.) Evolve Golf Epoch Performance Golf Tees: Trying to go green while landing on it at the same time? These tees are the ones for you. These performance tees are made from renewable resources and are much more durable than wood. The pack of fifty comes with forty 3 ¼” tees and ten 1 ½” ones. The price for this pack is $5.95, and if you truly care about your environment, they are well worth the price. One of the best features of this golf tee is that it eliminates contact with the dimples of the ball, which will allow for added distance on your tee shot.
5.) Intech Golf Tee: These tees are great for beginning golfers. They are your standard white, wood tees, and they are the tees that I used when I began playing the sport. I find that they are much more durable than the other budget friendly wooden tees. They are 2 ¾”, and a pack of one-hundred can currently be purchased from Amazon.com for $3.99. With the recent economic struggles that many of us are facing, this durable tee is not a bad choice if you are looking to save money while still enjoying the game that you love.
All in all, there are hundreds of variations of tees being sold in stores, and I am sure that many of you have already become comfortable with your favorite type. But, if you are looking for a better, more durable product, do yourself a favor and try one of the tees listed above.
