Alligator

Things you will need:

Clothespin

Green paint or green marker

Black pencil or pen

Wiggly eyes

Glue

Glitter (optional)

Paint the clothespin green. For advanced drawers, they can even use black to help make the scales for the alligator skin. Add glitter. Then, glue the wiggly eye on either side of one end of the clothespin. For example, the clothespin is a v-shape. When the v-shape is lying on its side one side of the clothespin will be towards the sky. Glue the eyes there.

Doily lace

On the clip of the clothespin attach your decorated heart, so you will be able to open your clothespin heart magnet. The first thing you will need to do is cut out the shape of a heart on construction paper or poster board. Then, decorate the heart with glitter and the doily lace. Cut the lace to glue around the edges of the heart. After the lace is attached, you can glue the heart to the clothespin. The clothespin needs to be glued to the magnet. It doesn’t matter if you glue the heart to the clothespin first or the clothespin to the magnet first. It is a little easier if the clothespin is attached to something else when gluing the heart to it, but it’s also easier for others to glue the clothespin to the magnet if the heart is not in the way.

Clothespins easily transform into people. Depending on how much of a mess and the age of the child, you can use markers or cut fabric to make clothes. Yarn can be used for the hair. If you want to make the clothespin functional attach the hair to each side of the clip end, making it look as if the person has a part in the center of their head. Googly eyes can be glued to the opening end and a marker can draw the mouth.

Clothespin crafts can be fun and you can still utilize the clothespin with some advance planning. Clothespin crafts for children are great gifts to everyone in the family. The child will be delighted knowing their artwork is being used and enjoyed.

Regardless of which type of clothespin craft you choose, make sure the children do not stick the clothespin on their finger and are not able to get it off. Not only does it hurt, you could have an injury. Enjoy the clothespin crafts and keep everyone safe.
