Clorox Bath Wand System Versus Mr. Clean Magic Reach

Clorox, Mr Clean

Bathroom cleaning is not a favorite chore in this household and with three bathrooms to clean it is one that has to be done, and done often. We are always looking for products to help us to make that chore just a bit easier. We have tried both the Clorox® BathWand System and Mr. Clean MagicReach™. Though both products have their good points we, in this house definitely have our favorite. It may not be the same as your favorite, as both the Clorox® BathWand System and Mr. Clean MagicReach™ have their unique selling points.

Let’s start first with the Clorox® BathWand System. This product is the first one that we tried. The starter package comes with a twenty-three inch handle, two disposable cleaning pads and a storage hook. I like the fact that each pad is individually wrapped and preloaded with cleaning solution. It attaches to the swivel head on the handle but much the same theory as Velcro. The Clorox® BathWand System has a handle with a swivel triangular head that has little projections that the cleaning pad’s fluffy side adhere to. The triangular head fits into corners of the bathtub nicely. The long handle does extend your reach so you are not bending at odd angles trying to get those hard to reach spots. The pre-loaded cleaner in the cleaning pads is what you have come to expect from Clorox, but contains no bleach at all so is safe on most surfaces. You get the Clorox® BathWand System cleaning pad wet to activate the cleanser and then the head foams up and you can start to scrub your bath and shower. When you are done you can just toss the cleaning pad into the trash. You do not have to store any grimy, dirty mess just the handle of the Clorox® BathWand System.

The directions say that you can use on sinks and other fixtures. I find this a bit inconvenient with the longer handle. The Clorox® BathWand System does not easily fit into the sink that I have. This may be different in other styles. Another thing I do not like is how the cleaning pad removes. Do to the design of the pad you have to peel it off with your fingers, and part of the fluffy side that adhered to the head must be “picked” off. It seems to me that the pad is never fully removed each time.

We also recently tried out the Mr. Clean MagicReach™. The starter kit comes with the flexible head, the snap together pole and two types of pads, one for the shower and the other for the floor. You can use just the flexible head with Mr. Clean MagicReach™. It has a hand grip that is nice for using in the sink and other places where the handle would be inconvenient. The handle is telescoping, so can be made shorter or longer. At the top of the handle for the Mr. Clean MagicReach™ there is a built in hook that you can hang it by. When cleaning the bathtub and shower walls the flexible head fits nicely into the tight spots. The Mr. Clean MagicReach™ flexible head is basically and oval shape with pointed ends. Well designed for just that reason. The cleaning pads are attached on one corner and brought around to the top side of the other end and pushed into a grip that holds it steadily in place. Both types of the cleaning pads have preloaded Mr. Clean cleaner and scrubbing surfaces. The cleanser is activated with water and you start scrubbing.

The cleaning pads for the Mr. Clean MagicReach™ are sold in resealable containers. You have to make sure that they are closed tightly every time or they will dry out. With the Mr. Clean MagicReach™ removing the cleaning pads may be a bit of a hassle. You have to pull them out of the grips and then have a wet pad to dispose of in the trash. But you have no used cleaning pad to store and have a fresh cleaning pad each time with no germy mess.

We like the Mr. Clean MagicReach™. The ability to also do the floors and sinks is a great plus. With the Mr. Clean MagicReach™ long handle we are able to reach more or remove it all together to do those tight spots. Though we do prefer the individually wrapped cleaning pads of the Clorox® BathWand System, this does make it a bit more expensive. After the buying the starter kit for the Mr. Clean MagicReach™ it is more cost effect for us to use.

Both the Mr. Clean MagicReach™ and the Clorox® BathWand System clean your bath and shower. Personal preference will play a major roll in your decision of which one to use. Both are better than the old sponge and cleaner.

Happy cleaning!
